@Headteacherchat The same as I think about Ofsteds. Waste of time and money. To think we trained subject leaders to be ready to spout deep dive shite about disciplinary and procedural knowledge from Ofsted subject research guides. What a stupid game.

@MrColesDrama Never been on it. Never will. The non education people on there are generally ego trumpet blowers who chase the salary. If school leaders are on there it would just wind me up with their similar utter nonsense. They can all do one.

EduLinkedIn is absolutely unhinged! Some of the ‘hot takes’ on there from people who do not work in nor lead schools are wild! Consultants disparaging school leaders while posting content (obviously written by AI) is possibly not the best marketing strategy!

Anonymous post: As a Headteacher, my office walls have become a small gallery of thank-you notes and children’s creations—warm reminders of the relationships and community we work to build. During a recent visit, my Trust Director smiled and asked: “You hold meetings in here?!” It’s made me reflect: what do you choose to display in your office or on your noticeboard? How do you balance a polished professional space with one that still feels personal—or clearly pupil-centred? I’d genuinely love to hear how others approach it.

@TurnipRail The ceo of the company that got the government contract for these used the money to buy a new jag and have the interior fully upholstered in the same medium rare steak coloured faux leather.

It feels wrong to be getting rid of this, but after nearly 30 years of following me around and serving practically no purpose, we will now part ways. But trust me, my personal statement was amazing.

Letting Ofsted reform themselves has led to a system that is worse. I had to ask the ed sec what she thinks of the concerns so many teachers and school leaders have towards this new framework. Listen to the full episode wherever you get your podcasts.

@james_xond I still remember all my best mates landline numbers by heart. I miss speaking to their parents, many of whom have passed, asking where they thought they might be and them telling me to tell them to get home by 9:00 if I saw them out later.

@WorkElizab No - they need to know more and remember more … About things they can find out from a simple search… But they need testing on it 3 times a year… And data shared with everyone… And the data better be good or my house valuation will fall cos i moved here for the the school.

@cherrylkd Another layer proving that they hadn’t even thought of this. Oh - hang on…what about specials…oh let’s amend. Now all schools with high EHCP and resource bases need same discretion. FACT.

@dave_mcpartlin @Headteacherchat Working in schools where there are big things happening was always worn like a badge of honour. Not many can do it. Not many would risk it. We were once perceived by those in the know as the elite. We still are. We don’t need attention. We give attention.

"Requires Attention." Schools with high FSM are far more likely to sit under that label in the new Ofsted framework, especially the Achievement section. Daft thing is, it already has our attention. It always will. Poverty requires attention. Hunger requires attention. Trauma requires attention. A judgement that ignores all of that - and then penalises the people giving their lives to the cause? That requires attention too.

@Edmund_B_W @AngelaRayner @s It’s awful Ed, isn’t it? This is the key phrase that should have spelt the end of Ofsted; “Suicide, contributed to by an Ofsted inspection carried out in November 2022.” But the vested interests protecting Ofsted were too strong and they allowed an even harsher framework. ☹️

I’m hearing that Ofsted are struggling to recruit. Both HMI and OI. Without inspectors, Ofsted would fall apart and if any of you do inspect, consider why, please. Why support an inspectorate which cause harm to your colleagues? Indeed, how could you?

@DanaPalubiak You can read. Share it with your child like you do with swimming and riding a bike. No blame. Just get it done. That will be all.

Who gets in the most trouble? The student who constantly skips class and school? The parent who raised the child who constantly skips class or school? Or the teacher who does not personally call the parent every time and document it in two different ways when the child skips?

When did teacher’s attire take a turn? Teachers today dress like they are all teaching PE. Growing up all my teachers wore heels, dresses, slacks, dress shirts, hair was done. They looked put together. Teachers today look like they don’t care. the way you show up contributes to the environment you work in. this may be one of the factors into why kids behave the way they do. take the profession seriously so the kids can take you seriously
