Another good day, 51 birds ringed of 18sps, Whitethroat (11) & Blackcap (8) the most numerous. I also ringed a new Redstart & retrapped the one caught yesterday. Other migrants included 2 Wheatear, an unringed Redstart, highlight though were 13 Whimbrel that flew west calling
A really enjoyable weekend helping with 'The Swift Stand' @TheBirdfair, great to talk to so many people who wanted to know what they could do to help swifts.
Our revamped stand with new posters and the new swift wall even won the best conservation stand prize :)
@BurnessPb Tim and I were sorry to miss both of you and the Firecrest yesterday! We were about an hour behind you. Anyway we hope you are enjoying Christmas! We are with Tim's Mum. All the best for a bird filled 2019! Carol and Tim

It seems we’ve found a new species for Cape Verde, Eucalyptus Longhorned Borer, Phoracantha semipunctata, found at Rui Vaz in the mountains of Santiago. Unfortunately it’s an invasive species that does serious damage to Eucalyptus trees cabi.org/isc/datasheet/… @CABI_Invasives
Corvo - A pleasant enough day spent birding in the lighouse valley and various spots on then way back however very little to show for it :(
