International migration studies further show that migration is overwhelmingly driven by regional inequality, wars, underdevelopment, labour demand and economic collapse — not simply “open borders” narratives. South Africa’s crisis cannot honestly be reduced to migrants while ignoring deindustrialisation, privatisation of SOEs, austerity/budget cuts, corruption and state capture, infrastructure collapse, energy failures, and unemployment affecting more than 12 million people. As long as our diagnosis is politically biased instead of relying of scientifically proven facts, we will never arrive at real solutions
