@sigirides @northeast73 Agree you had the right to be where you were and the bus needed to wait, you were probably travelling faster than him over the next mile or 5 anyway! BUT I really want car drivers to like us cyclists so if you could avoid swearing so vehemently on X we might get more support?

@yuloolootoo @Boenau The cars are causing the cars to be backed up for blocks. The cycle lane is allowing people to get out of their cars and cycle to work taking pressure off the road. The jam would just be wider if the cyclists weren't there because there are pinch points in the city

@BladeoftheS I cycle more than I drive, I would definitely go back and find a gateway to move into. I have done so many times, it takes moments. Having said that, this lorry does also seem to be too big for that small lane. I'd hate for it to meet another one coming the other way!

This lorry literally needs to reverse 50ft and then the cyclist can pass, but no apparently it is the cyclist that must go all the way back.

@gidneyboy @CyclingInKK @sendboyle No you wouldn't move it. Because someone might come and do something illegal to you or your car. Most cyclists, especially ones who move 80kg cargo bikes about are probably quite fit. All you have to do is press the accelerator! 🤣

@CyclingInKK @sendboyle Taking the space closest to the door when there is ample space on the kerb. Just out to make a point & get a reaction. Eventually someone just won’t see your bike and will run into it and drive off. 🤷‍♂️

@E9Princess @CyclingInKK @sendboyle One person in a car takes a parking spot so why shouldn't someone with a cargo bike take a space? Seems fair unless there were designated spaces for motorbikes/cargo bikes. I don't need to use one with my small road bike but I would if I had a large bike carrying cargo like that

@TT41301 @colm_tracey @Rendel_Harris @StePansar The Highway Code says cyclists should take up a position in the lane to be visible and safe. The bus should overtake using the other lane - if safe to pull out. If the cyclist had pulled over the bus would have tried a dangerous overtake. Cyclist was correct. Company apologised.

@theJeremyVine @Rendel_Harris Well done for catching this on camera, the bus driver will probably get points on his licence/retraining. I wonder if he was having a breakdown? Very stressful for the cyclist and I probably would have said a lot....but sometimes fewer comments from the rider is good?

@kinkypimp @FrankleyMan @MikeyCycling More lives would be saved if motorists wore motorcycle style helmets. Why on earth don't motorists wear them? Helmets on a bike may be sensible but they remove a sense of freedom and weirdly cars go closer to cyclists wearing them (fact)! Having said that I do wear one.

These officers may have had the best of intentions, when they pulled me and my GD over for cycling in the bike lane, without helmets, but it may not work out that way. Following our exchange, the first thing my GD said was, "I'm not going on my bike again now."

@apascoe33 @FrankleyMan It is not the police's job to pull you over if they think you might be safer doing something differently. If no one drove we would all be safer but I don't think they should stop people driving.

@FrankleyMan Wearing a helmet whilst cycling is common sense. You may have been prepared to take a risk yourself, but you should have considered the safety of your grand daughter and set a good example for her.

@ElleJane1234 @FrankleyMan @paulyr111 @apascoe33 Helmets aren't much good when you are hit by a car. They can prevent scrapes and bumps and I wear one but they are not compulsory. I didn't wear one growing up, nor did any of my friends. I cycled Lands End to John O'Groats in 1998 without one. Three of the six had a helmet

@CBikeLondon @RobertLeeDist Excellent reply from the company, top marks. And to thise who say people should not cycle on the roads, don't be ridiculous! We need more people cycling and fewer angry drivers. There are speed bumps on the road, obeying the law would have delayed the van driver for a few seconds

@FietserGlasgow @kevinsh1958 @davewalker @tonyblackburn If ten cyclists are out riding it is sensible to ride two abreast as cars can overtake on the other side of the road and spend less time passing. As you should know (see Highway Code) you should overtake a single cyclist on the other side too. Hope this helps explain.

How about having an event next year for car owners in London instead of cyclists after all there are more of us and we do pay to go on the roads,
Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan@MayorofLondon

Good luck to everyone taking part in a @RideLondon race today. This year is set to break records, with 25,000 cyclists expected to take to their bikes. That makes RideLondon the world’s biggest city bike festival. standard.co.uk/news/transport…

With some relief, back to cycling. This driver is probably a nice guy, and just needs to think a bit more about his fellow road users. The guy behind him in the van — not so much.

@kel59026 @theJeremyVine They were overtaking the bus. They weren't holding anybody up at all. And why even try to pass when there is a red light ahead. The van driver behind is lucky he isn't charged following his aggressive behaviour.

@drewsnx Cycling on pavements has only been illegal in the UK since 1835. That is one hundred and eighty eight years, for those that are hard of thinking. ILLEGAL, NO EXCUSES.
