you make an excellent point and I hadn't considered that. as a transplant, I thought the move was italian food and I find that it's really over-represented compared to other great cuisines. my experience is that it's way easier to happen upon a disappointing meal in Boston than in LA or NYC. great menus and beautiful or cool dining rooms abound, just not the flavor, service quality, or diversity of cuisine to back it up.

I think what makes people think the food scene is shit is the fact that they don't really have a specific food to call their own. Boston pizza isn't a thing. Clam Chowder, I guess. But you wouldn't necessarily think of Boston when you order or eat it. Lawbstah is probably the closest thing we get to a 'Boston food'. That being said, there are tons of great places to eat in Boston. :: shrugs ::
