"They're out for themselves" say some of the people commenting on the #fuelprotest. Obviously? If a group of dock workers strike over pay that's what their dispute is about. If healthcare assistants strike for pay parity - that's what their dispute is about.

@IrishCommunists I campaigned to save a school for special needs kids in 2009. Hayes,a local rep, would not engage & left our protest outside the department. He returned when RTE cameras arrived & ensured he was interviewed on the news with the disabled kids. It was a real lesson in how FG operates

Throwback to when #vincentbrowne tore shreds off Brian Hayes. The reality is that millionaire TDs from FFG don't understand the #fuelprotests because they're not impacted by them in any shape or form.

@AhernHerbe8277 @IrishCommunists "against small farmers", what does that even mean? "and instead support FFG ordering the Gardaí.." Like, try to be a little bit more serious here. I'm pretty sure Lenin wasn't suggesting that you completely forget the interests of the working class in general.

You don't need to agree with everybody you work with on material issues such as cost of fuel, wages, conditions etc. The idea that people have alternative views or views influenced by social media or the far right grifter scum and merit no support or sympathy is WRONG.

@culladgh He's being disingenuous here. Other EU countries have done this - It would take years for the EU commission to act upon any infringement and would probably not act on any temp measures. We have the autonomy to reduce taxes as we see fit as a sovereign country.

I know he's not here anymore but Gavin Reilly explains in clear as day language why the demands of the protestors can't be met.

Truly fascinating to see an ideological split online over this protest I never noticed before. The usual leftist NGO, working class hero mouthpieces with utter contempt for the Farmers and Hauilers (& their new tractors). Various socialists & communists opposing them

@jasonomahony This has always been the case. But we don't get decent public services do we? Just money being shovelled into the private pockets of outsourcers and privateers of government services.

I suspect we are now seeing the reality of “Yes, I’d happily pay higher taxes for better public services or a United Ireland.”

Irish Times are at it again! Today’s Irish Times features a piece by Ciaran O’Connor @ciaranoconnor. The Irish Times fails to disclose that O’Connor is in fact a senior analyst at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD). The ISD is funded by the George Soros Open Society Foundations, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the UK government, and has received over $6m in US Department of State funding. Surprisingly or perhaps unsurprisingly, in 2019 following the death of Jeffrey Epstein, Ciaran O’Connor worked to “fact check” those spreading “conspiracy theories” about Epstein. Important work no doubt. It’s always interesting to scratch just below the surface on a contributor to the Irish Times, who the IT tell us is merely “a researcher and journalist who focuses on extremism and technology”.

The #fuelprotests are striking a chord with the working class because working class people ( unlike their posh peers in South Dublin and millionaire TDs ) have been getting hammered since 2011 by austerity from FFG with no reprieve in sight. All goes back to bank bailouts...

Cuba did this because it immediately nationalised (confiscated) everything and made everyone a poor and low paid state worker. There has been income (much of it high) taxation in Cuba since the early 90's. Wild that Communism is still a thing, absolutely wild.
Irish Communist Party@IrishCommunists

@MrBazMc1 @Stephenodea7 As soon as the CUban revolution came to power they abolished income tax. It seems like anti-Communists don't have a clue at all
