Fianna Fáil Cllr Seamus Butler of Longford Town responded to this woman this way after she emailed him about her struggles and asked him to vote no confidence in his own party. While he actually can’t vote anyway, his response speaks volumes about how Fianna Fáil view the ordinary Irish person. They simply don’t care.

@mybollix @rtenews Temporary inconvenience. It’s a much greater inconvenience to citizens that their kids can’t afford homes, yet people with no claim are handed homes. Or that critical infrastructure isn’t being built, or that my tax money is being squandered. Priorities like.

@mybollix @rtenews That’s the same attitude that keeps seeing us be shafted with no recourse. Without an immediate affect on the people, and government, we’ll keep going down the same road. It’s no longer just about fuel, but about squandering of tax payers money while shafting the tax payer.

What about the rest of us? My company has 12 vans on the road and paying nearly €2k per week for fuel. We’re not in the haulage or agri-food sector but we have 85+ employees and subcontractors who still have to get to work and it’s becoming unaffordable for them to do so.
