@citizentvkenya @citizentvkenya ask the scientist to explain more about Tela maize. I thought it was developed by AATF (African Agricultural Technology Foundation). Is KALRO the developer?

Erick Korir, National Biosafety Authority of Kenya: As the National Biosafety Authority, we are a government agency that is mandated by law to supervise and control the transfer, development, use, and handling of GMOs in Kenya. We are doing that to ensure that we protect ourselves, our animals, and provide an adequate level of protection to our environment. We do safety assessments on all the products of modern biotechnology, specifically GMOs. Any product that has passed through the authority and has been given a clean bill of health by the authority, we are saying it is safe #CitizenMondayReport

Holding the exit strategy consultative meeting for the grain Amaranth farmers supported by AfriFI Kenya CS APP in Migori county. A very big step for Migori farmers to start contract grain amaranth seed production.

One of the farm technologies we teach the rural smallholder farmers we work with is keyhole gardening. A keyhole garden is a round garden made with a compost basket in the middle and a compost access section on one side. What are some of the advantages? 🧵 #garden #farm #rural

Pineapples take about 12-24 months to reach maturity, depending on the variety.  Collaboration between farmers, researchers, extension services, and relevant stakeholders is crucial in overcoming possible challenges and ensuring sustainable pineapple farming. @kilimoKE

Improved forage grasses provide nutrients and high quality feed for livestock hence supporting the health and productivity of animals. Increased productivity of milk and meat provides good income for farmers.

Starting the new year with preparing farmers for the coming long rain season is so refreshing and a nice way to start a productive year. Learn more! Grow more! Sell more.

@MarshalPapworth @HarperAdamsUni On Mr. Neil's farm, I learned that if we want to get a good harvest of English potatoes, we should get planting material for clean sources free from pests and diseases. For him, he gets his potato planting materials from Scotland where viral and bacterial levels are minimal.
