Apparently, according to Sarah from Madrid, if you run out of battery on your kindle during a power cut, one should consider having a back up book to read. Whacky old school stuff but maybe it could work!

Some useful advice from the BBC in case, God forbid, we ever suffer a power cut in Kenya like they did in Spain and Portugal. Apparently it is a good idea to keep candles in your house and even a torch. And you can get news from a wind-up radio. So clever! bbc.com/news/articles/…

Key chart to keep in mind as the Conservatives suffer their worst ever defeat: The Tories didn’t lose this election because they were too right wing on some issues or too left wing on others. They lost because voters of all stripes judged them to be incompetent and dishonest.

In this first week since ‘Broken Threads’ was released I’ve had some heartfelt responses: I appreciate them all! Here’s my great-aunt Anne, 99, when I took an early copy to her in Oldham. Thanks to her I understood my grandmother Mary’s early life and the Quinn family’s trials
