Mahmoud Khalil reminds me of a nemesis of mine from when I was in college in the '80s. He would show up at my school newspaper to attack me, write letters to the editor complaining about my coverage of Jewish and Israeli issues, and harass me when he saw me on campus. I was young and still learning, so I didn't mind arguing the issues. But my nemesis never really argued. He'd lecture about the Jewish plot to dominate the world and how Israel fulfills the "prophecies" of the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion." I could not get a word in edgewise. If I suggested that his views relied on ancient antisemitic stereotypes, he would throw up his arms and deny he's antisemitic. Today, the accusation is "weaponization" of antisemitism. It's supposed to be a conversation-stopper, but it makes as much sense today as it did when I was in college. It's a way of ending debate before one even begins. jewishinsider.com/2026/03/mahmou…

I'm prepared to pay a lot more taxes to have the website fixed. NIH is not issuing awards. You may think that it's because they it is coming up with new directions of research...The apposite is true. Here is a graph showing how many fewer new funding opportunities that NIH has posted over time. -91%, a trend that started on Jan 2025.
