Over 52,125 people in Rajshahi, Bangladesh, were reached through community-based surveillance last year - helping them to detect early signs of health threats and address them before they spread. Through this effort, over 2,200 suspected health events were identified and managed. Through trained Red Crescent volunteers, government health workers, and reporting tools, information is shared quickly and health teams respond faster, and control risks early. This work is being led by the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (@BDRCS1), with support from the @IFRC, the Norwegian Red Cross (@RodeKorsNorge), and other partners in close coordination with the local health authorities and the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research, under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), Bangladesh.

Climate change isn’t a future risk. It’s already uprooting lives. In Bangladesh alone, 21 million people were displaced by extreme weather between 2008–2024. Some can move. Others are trapped. What happens when rising waters erase a way of life? Watch the full documentary 👉 youtube.com/watch?v=TjUBFg…

A fire has broken out in Korail, the largest informal settlement (slum) in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The fire destroyed over 1,500 shelters and thousands of people has been affected . The Bangladesh Red Crescent (@BDRCS1), with support from @IFRC, is mobilising to assist affected people. Volunteers are on the ground delivering first aid, managing crowds, controlling fires, providing ambulance services, and offering other emergency support.

Climate change isn’t a distant threat in Bangladesh. It's a daily reality. In just 16 years, over 21 million people have been displaced. Families are losing homes, livelihoods, and the future they hoped for. Speaking from Bangladesh, @BocAlberto reminds us: these aren’t numbers - they’re lives, resilience, and urgent need. At #COP30, @IFRC urges action: protect climate-related health, invest in communities, and strengthen preparedness now. 🌍🔥
