Bangladesh is currently experiencing a nationwide resurgence of measles since early 2026, posing a major public health concern, particularly for young children. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (@BDRCS1) is on the ground conducting outbreak detection activities and household visits, disseminating health messages, and coordinating with institutions and organisations such as Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research, and Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). @IFRC has launched critical Disaster Emergency Response Funds (@IFRC_DREF) of CHF 500,000 to scale up Bangladesh Red Crescent's operations.

Misinformation costs lives. Beyond climate shocks and conflict, misinformation and dehumanizing narratives are eroding trust, endangering humanitarian volunteers, and obstructing life-saving aid. The fundamental principles are an important tool for guiding our impact- ensuring that we act with neutrality, independence and humanity. It has enabled us to deliver life-saving aid, evacuations, and family reunifications in conflicts and disasters where very few could reach
IFRC Asia Pacific@IFRCAsiaPacific

The Fundamental Principles make it possible for the Red Cross and Red Crescent to reach people others cannot. Sonakshi Dey from IFRC Bangladesh shares what the seven Principles mean to her. #FundamentalPrinciples

Over one million displaced people living in the camps of Cox’s Bazar and Bhashan Char in Bangladesh continue to face tremendous hardship and challenges as the crisis now enters its eighth year.   With the support of the @IFRC's Population Movement Operation, and an international appeal for support, the Bangladesh Red Crescent @BDRCS1 continues to provide critical support to those in need.   Local and national actors are playing a critical frontline role and must be empowered with resources and long-term partnerships.   Sustained support is needed. bit.ly/3qDcG6u

This month marks the 8th year since the massive displacement of people from Rakhine State, Myanmar to Bangladesh. Today, over one million displaced people in Cox’s Bazar depend on ongoing humanitarian support. With the support of the @IFRC and our emergency appeal, the Bangladesh Red Crescent @BDRCS1 continues to work every day in the displaced camps, bringing a wide range of support and services. As the crisis entered its eighth year, humanitarian aid must continue to save lives and protect dignity. Continued support from governments, donors, and the global community is crucial. bit.ly/3qDcG6u Here is a glimpse of our collective impact. 👇

On #WorldHumanitarianDay, our Program Coordinator in Bangladesh, Ms. Sonakshi Day, shares her reflections from visiting the flood-affected communities in the south-eastern part of the country. Bangladesh's recurring disasters linked to climate change are no longer exceptional; they are becoming the new norm. What were once described as "once-in-a-lifetime" floods now occur every few years. As the climate changes, so too must the global response. Full article by @sonakshidey in @tbsnewsbd👇 tbsnews.net/thoughts/betwe…

Climate-vulnerable countries like Bangladesh did not create this crisis, yet their people are paying the highest price. Urgent call for action to the international community to urgently deliver climate finance, release Loss and Damage Fund to protect vulnerable population
