Today, May 21st, marks one year since Sarah Lynn Milgrim z”l and Yaron Lischinsky z”l were murdered. 365 days since two bright young souls, devoted to Israel, the Jewish people, and building bridges between communities, were taken from us far too soon. Our Embassy and extended Embassy family are still grieving. Although our formal year of mourning has come to an end, we still feel the pain and horror as if it still were the night of May 21st, 2025. We hope Sarah is remembered for her dedication to bringing communities closer to Israel, her compassion, her kindness, and the way she brought people together with sincerity and warmth. We hope Yaron is remembered for his delicate way of interacting with people from all walks of life, his dedication to educating others about Israel, his intellect, and his deep love for the State of Israel. May their memories continue to be and forever be a blessing. May we merit to continue honoring them and their work. May our Embassy family know no more pain. May the Almighty comfort us, together with their families, among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem. We ask that you remember our friends and colleagues, and never allow their deaths to be in vain or forgotten.

On October 7th, the Nova Music Festival became the site of one of the most horrific massacres in modern history. Young people who came together to dance, to celebrate, and to feel joy were hunted down in the fields, the shelters, and the roads trying to escape. Over 360 innocent lives were stolen. Hundreds more were wounded. And dozens were taken into Gaza as hostages. The @novaexhibition exists so the world never forgets what happened there. 🎥 @CCFPeace

.@sheba_medical has opened a first-of-its-kind underground hyperbaric medicine center - designed to keep treating wounded soldiers and civilians without interruption, even during a national emergency. The therapy accelerates the body's natural healing for complex wounds, radiation injuries, diabetes complications, and severe infections - and in some cases, can prevent amputations entirely. 7 miles of underground Hamas tunnel routes - built beneath homes, public institutions, and roads and used for years to carry out attacks against Israeli civilians. Now dismantled by the @IDF. We will continue to do whatever it takes to dismantle Hamas and protect the citizens of Israel. 🇮🇱

.@havivrettiggur puts it simply and powerfully - Jews have never been persecuted because of who we are, but because of who others needed us to be. Medieval moneylenders. 20th century communists. Today's imperialists. The costume changes with every era - but the scapegoating never does.

Israeli archaeologists with @AntiquitiesIL, uncovered something extraordinary - a 2,000-year-old stone vessel factory dating back to the Second Temple period. Hidden for centuries beneath the hills of Jerusalem, the site contained hundreds of stone vessel fragments, unfinished tools, and evidence of a thriving ancient Jewish industry connected to life in Jerusalem during one of the most significant eras in Jewish history. At the recent President’s Conference for a Shared Israeli Future, @GalGadot joined Michal Herzog for a powerful conversation on self-love, resilience, and hope. This Memorial Day, we remember the men and women who have sacrificed everything for this great country, the United States of America. As we know in Israel only too well, freedom and prosperity must not be taken for granted. Today and everyday, we are grateful to those who gave their lives to protect and defend.

Ambassador @yechielleiter sat down with @wolfblitzer to deliver a message the world needs to hear - hateful libels against Israel and the Jewish people are not abstract or victimless. They have consequences. They have already cost lives. Without accountability, we will only see more violence. 🎥 @CNNSitRoom @CNN

Antisemitism has never truly changed. Only its costume has. What makes today's Islamist antisemitism so uniquely dangerous is its ability to disguise itself as a social justice movement - wrapping the world's oldest hatred in the language of liberation and human rights until it looks not just acceptable, but righteous. This is how hatred evades accountability. The Holocaust didn't begin with people who called themselves evil. It began with people who believed they were right. 🎥 @Ayaan via @ISGAP

A team of scientists at the @HebrewU of Jerusalem have made a discovery that could change the way the world grows food - and it starts with a fungus. The researchers found a way to dramatically boost production of food crops - and make them taste better at the same time. In tests, tomatoes grew 60 percent heavier, and melons produced roughly five times more fruit than usual. Plants also grew faster and were ready to harvest sooner - all without using a single chemical fertilizer or pesticide. Learn more by clicking the link below! israel.com/science/natura…

If you cry genocide every few years for two decades - and you're wrong every single time - at some point, the word loses its meaning. And so does your credibility. Words matter. When you weaponize the most serious accusation in the human rights vocabulary repeatedly and without basis, you don't just undermine Israel - you undermine every real victim of genocide in history. 🎥 @RoyKAltman

Because no covenant is complete without dessert. 🍰 On Shavuot, we celebrate one of the most momentous events in Jewish history - the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. And along with the Torah came the laws of kosher - which the Jewish people had no time to fully prepare for. So in those first sacred hours, they ate what they had. Dairy. Thousands of years later, that moment lives on in every cheesecake, blintz, and cheese-filled pastry that graces our Shavuot tables. This year, we're so excited to share this incredible cheesecake recipe from the amazing @lions_bread! 🎥 @lions_bread

Shavuot marks one of the most profound moments in Jewish history - the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. It is a celebration of the covenant between the Jewish people and God, and a time to recommit ourselves to the values and wisdom that have guided our people for thousands of years. Shavuot is also one of the three great pilgrimage festivals of the Jewish calendar - a harvest celebration rooted in the land of Israel. It marks the end of the wheat harvest and the moment when the Jewish people would bring their first fruits to the Temple in Jerusalem as an offering of gratitude. A reminder that faith and the land have always been inseparable in the Jewish story. Chag sameach!!

Tonight marks the beginning of the holiday of Shavuot—a holiday of community and remembrance. We stand as one people, and recall the day we received the Torah and all of its blessings. One year ago today, our community at the Embassy of Israel lost two of our beloved members—Sarah Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky—in a heinous terror attack. A year later, we remember the light they brought into our lives and we mourn the hole in our hearts that they left behind.
