Fantastic to speak @TheKingsFund @barnardos about what children tell me they need to be the healthiest generation yet - all of us adults need to be as ambitious for them as they are for themselves & protect and support their one precious childhood

After 2 years on the @NHSGradScheme - from ops management to transformation & policy, I’ve grown as a leader and seen first-hand the difference collaborative working has for our patients. I’m now excited to start as Senior Specialty Manager in Haematology & Oncology at @RUHBath💫

Our campaign to end the postcode lottery of gluten free prescriptions has reached an important milestone. Yesterday, with supporters from across the country, we took your message directly to Number 10 Downing Street and the UK Government! With over 22,000 signatures, we’ve exceeded our original target, giving an enormous boost to our campaign for better access to gluten free prescriptions. Leading the way at the petition hand-in were Kate Powell from Waterlooville, Hampshire, who has two daughters with coeliac disease, Ceira Reading from Leicestershire and Anita Patel all sharing their personal experiences and highlighting how critical this issue is to families affected by coeliac disease. They were joined by Coeliac UK ambassador Becky Excell, who added her voice to the campaign, reinforcing the need for better access to gluten free prescriptions. We were also joined by Dr Hugo Penny, Consultant Gastroenterologist at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sheffield, who reinforced the need for equal accesss to gluten free prescriptions as a medical necessity. Among the politicians showing their support were Baroness Bakewell of Hardington Mandeville, Tom Rutland MP, Sharon Hodgson MP and Amanda Hack MP further reinforcing the message that gluten free prescriptions are essential for managing coeliac disease. As we officially hand in the petition, we want to thank you for your incredible support. This wouldn’t have been possible without each of you standing up for better access to gluten free prescriptions across the UK. But this is not the end of the journey. Following the hand-in, we will keep the entire community informed every step of the way as we look to work with the Minister and his team to implement much-needed change. Make sure to follow us on social media or sign up to our newsletter for updates on developments: coeliac.org.uk/forms/newslett… Thank you for being part of this campaign! Tristan Head of Advocacy & Public Affairs, Coeliac UK #SaveGFPrescriptions
