Liverpool deserved to lose that. Having to throw the kitchen sink and hope something sticks - AGAIN - can’t be the plan. So much of the play is forced and out of desperation, which leads to painfully poor decision-making. There are periods where it looks like the players don’t know each other and have no clue what to expect. So vulnerable defensively, and without a working mix in attack despite an abundance of talent.

Have we all really forgotten just how great Raheem Sterling can be. The man that was once the central cog in Pep Guardiola’s system is currently without anywhere to play regular football. The combination of Sterling’s sky-high (£325k per week) and a poor loan spell at Arsenal last season has caused the few suitors Raheem had to turn away this summer. And yet it was just four short years ago that Raheem carried England to their first major final on home soil since 1966. Before that he was the first great star under Guardiola at City. 131 goals in nearly 350 appearances for the Cityzens. At Liverpool he won the UEFA Golden Boy award in 2014 and everything he touched for the next decade really did turn to gold. At 30, Sterling has bags of experience that stretch well beyond his years. Wages aside, he’s a leader that would make a real difference to most teams in the Premier League. Surely that was worth a go.

I've always admired Marc Guehi as a player and character but he's gone up in my estimation even further over the way he's handled this Liverpool move and his Crystal Palace future. Absolute class act and deserves every success in the future. Liverpool have got a gem.
