Avy - Animation training arc! 🍵🌸🇦🇺
I have finished the Jin Chan. pretty happy with it, frogs/toads are good for sculpting, lots of skin folds and textures. its supposed to sit on an octagon with the 8 Bagua symbols but creating such a thing in zbrush is a pain.

@ItsjustAvy @Knightly_Hist That’s literally one of the stories of how the Daimyo Shingen Takeda died. The garrison of a fort was having a drinking party before surrendering, he went up to a forward listening post at night to hear for himself, and got sniped.

@ItsjustAvy @Knightly_Hist The daimyo did die at that place, and the reason is unknown. It was sudden so it makes sense it was assassination. "Some accounts say he succumbed to an old war wound, some say a sniper had wounded him earlier, and others that he died of pneumonia." #Death" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Takeda_Sh…

@KSC3971 @Knightly_Hist With the case of Takeda Shingen I always thought the story as told sounded weird "we sent close to the walls to hear an enemy flute player" and I think "why did he not have his own flute player" I like how this movie does it, just set up his picnic a little too close.

No one ever said we “lost the technology” to go back to the Moon. That’s not what Don Pettit said in a 2016 interview. What he actually said was: “I’d go to the Moon in a nanosecond. The problem is we don’t have the technology to do that anymore. We used to, but we destroyed that technology and it’s a painful process to build it back again.” And the honest response to that is: So what? He said this decades after the Apollo program - after we had already gone to the Moon six times and landed twelve men on the surface. His comment has absolutely no bearing on whether those missions happened. What he meant is straightforward: The factories were shut down. The tooling and molds were scrapped. The materials became obsolete. The engineers and technicians moved on. The contractors moved on. We didn’t lose the physics. We didn’t forget how rockets work. We lost the industrial ecosystem that made something like the Saturn V possible at that moment in time. You can’t just snap your fingers and build another one. That’s all he meant. By 2016, we had: • gone to the Moon 6 times • landed 12 humans on its surface • built and operated over 10 space stations • maintained a permanently inhabited laboratory in orbit for over 15 years - the International Space Station (later joined by China’s crewed station, Tiangong space station) …and that’s when he said it’s a painful process to build it back again. So again: That quote clearly doesn’t mean what they pretend it means. Gotta Lie To Deny

I watched Haruhi in 2013 when I was in high school and read the light novels. It’s enjoyable enough as a comedy and the animation is good, but I have to conclude it was overhyped. I understand what Endless Eight was trying to do, but it was poorly done and a waste of time.
Cone@Lol8ball

I think a big reason why Haruhi hasn't had a resurgence in popularity like Lucky Star or Azumanga Daioh is because of the watch orders. S1 Broadcast set the western animesphere ablaze, what younger anime fans get when they watch now is not the same thing at all.

@ItsjustAvy That happens a lot with diaspora communities who think that going back to where their parents came from will give them some earth shattering experience. You can learn a lot of things, but that doesn’t mean you can drop everything and move there.

sfchronicle.com/bayarea/articl…
