The UK didn’t have armed police as a routine visible presence at events like the Grand National before the Manchester Arena bombing in 2017… I find it intimidating and terrifying. The far right are a very worrying bunch. We shouldn’t have to live like this 🔥

The UK has crossed a line. Welfare spending: £333 billion Income tax revenue: £331 billion We’re now paying out more than we bring in from workers. This is unsustainable.

@chris_stura I would never, ever drive to London myself. However if a disabled relative with a blue badge needs a lift to a medical appointment in London what should I tell them, that @chris_stura doesn't agree with cars so it's just tough luck and they'll need to make their own way there?

The thing is cars, let alone SUVs have no place in London. London is the ultimate 15 minute city with world class public transport. Driving in London makes zero sense

I reminded the Lords @UKHouseofLords this afternoon why it is such a bad idea to consider going back into the EU Customs Union.

Leaving the EU Customs Union enabled the UK to remove tariffs on things we do not produce to cut prices. Leaving the EU and single market saved us £15 bn a year and rising in membership fees and taxes we had to pay over to the EU. Big wins.

This bike was rode dangerously through parks and on pavements by a male dressed in black wearing a balaclava and no safety gear. We were able to track the bike as the rider rode home and detain him at his home address. The bike has been seized and the driver will be prosecuted.

@IAmBritishReal The problem isn't the flag - it's like Gary Neville said, the problem is those who are putting it up *specifically* with the intention to make people of colour or refugees feel unwelcome and intimidated. That usage *is* racist. And many are openly doing as such. That's not ok.

@MillwallDan85 @Matthardy_BR In the circumstances you describe it's much easier to justify the use of force: of course I had to use my PPE your honour, the suspect was twice my size and I was in fear for my safety so I emptied a can of pava into his face and then tasered him before cuffing him...

@drewsnx You could use the same argument to say that we should still be subject to the COVID lockdown, after all some people will have undoubtedly died as a result of the lockdown ending. Imagine how many fatalities caused by COVID, flu and other pathogens could be avoided...
