@nealjclark1 Yes. When were we all stably situated, for the foreseeable, on a family estate with no motive to run? Never.

If you read a lot of noir books and stuff from the 40’s/50’s it’s pretty clear that a lot of people lived in motels. Not just criminals but nurses etc. I’ve never known anyone to live in a motel. I don’t think the abundant American world was real. Life has always been dangerous.

Never seen anything like this. 200+ monthly records set today alone! Every pink dot means a city set its new all-time highest March temperature! That’s around 570 new monthly records in the last 4 days. Some set multiple times. By far the most rogue #heatwave the US has experienced in memory.

The law does not decree what must happen, or what should. In modern societies, we must never try to learn ethics from the law.

Too many people get lost in the details because they don’t have the guts to face what really matters in life which is love and the fact that we are all going to die.

I spoke these words in a speech when I was just 16 years old. Even then, the reality was clear to me: every ambition, every career goal, and every plan we make for our future is entirely dependent on having a livable planet to realize them on. Years later, that urgency hasn't faded. It has just evolved into focused action. That core belief is exactly why I do the work I do today as an Ambassador to @AmericanForests. We can't just advocate against destruction; we have to actively rebuild and restore the foundation of our Earth. Forests are our greatest natural defense against the climate crisis. They clean our air, cool our warming cities, and provide the literal breath of life we need to keep our dreams alive. My work with American Forests is about moving away from the fear of ashes and focusing on the promise of new growth. It’s about fighting for #TreeEquity and ensuring that every community has a healthy environment to thrive in. Our dreams need a green, resilient world to take root in. Let's plant those roots together. 🌲

In 1976 Amory Lovins wrote in Foreign Affairs about "soft" energy paths. In 2026 America is on the hard path still. #Solarsoft

Many new followers, so an introduction: By day, I'm an R&D scientist working on cell & gene therapies. I also own & operate a permaculture farm. Since '21, we've planted chestnut, pawpaw, & more. In April, we'll begin silvopasture grazing. I'm an avid reader, especially Camus!

There will be no shortage of extreme weather over the next week, beyond the typical March Madness stuff! From winter cold returning to the East, to a West historic #heatwave unmatched to anything we’ve seen before in March, to relentless rain in Hawaii. It’s all connected to the same parent pattern - a very amplified jet stream. Here’s more…

A follow up from yesterday's post on the historic heat dome expected next week. New Euro has a 3.5 Sigma max (3.5 standard deviations from the mean). To keep it simple that's like... alot... alot. Like slim to no chance it happens based on our historic record, which is admitedly limited. But even so it goes to show you how rare the upcoming event will be, not just in terms of intensity - I am even more impressed by how broad it is and how long-lived. We are witnessing history here... but also witnessing our present and future as EVERY heat wave s now made stronger, larger, more intense, and more likely by a warmed globe, simply because the baseline has warmed dramatically.

Absurd heat! Despite our best efforts, the monster heat dome is bound to be "undersold" by the meteorology community. Why? Because intensity like this is almost never seen. This thing has the potential to be Epic for Mid-March, and not in a good way. The magenta is where this ridge is forecast (Euro) to be the most intense on record for the day. It's not the size of a city or a state, is literally the majority of the American West. The March record for Palm Springs is 104. For Phoenix it is 100. The National Blend of models has numbers between 105-110 late next week for these two locations. If that happens, we break March surface temp records by absurd margins. And... 1/
