I'm running a small experiment, not IRB approved, unfortunately, to see if a 7yo Homo sapien can survive on oatmeal alone. My daughter has graciously volunteered to be the sole subject. I'll post my discussion and results once it's completed.

Not that every course should be like this, but I sometimes assign 25,000 pages a week for upper-level seminars and it's a little uncomfortable but everyone seems to be able to keep up.

I was in a course that assigned 1200-1500 pages of reading a week. I tried to do all of the reading each week, often failing but coming close. It was all important. I learned more in that class than possibly any other I’ve taken. Profs in general aren’t assigning enough.

I was a lower income student that would tear through until 1-3 am. Lol. But I was burnt out by senior year in big way. Both Literture and Philosophy. This would all be solved by free education? I would have loved to have taken 5 years, resolved the dissertations for either in different years.

@J3553V @nourician of those differences are necessarily a problem but having them happen basically catch as catch can depending on how many class they're taking, how many hours at their job, etc is a problem and contributes to lower income students tending to have it worse.

In my first semester at NYU, I took a course for which I had to read all of Proust’s In Search of Lost Time in a little over three months, so I spent a lot of time in Bobst and was in the library for the two suicides that eventually led to the installation of this screen.
