JAC has demanded from the Sindh Government and law enforcement agencies (LEAs) that Ghani Aman Chandio be immediately released and returned, and those responsible for his abduction be held accountable. It has also demanded that the NCCIA immediately release Advocate Hadi Chatta and ensure that his right to due process and freedom of expression are respected. JAC Condemns the Illegal Detentions of Leadership of Mazdoor Kissan Party Charsada and Awami Action Committee Gilgit Baltistan and Demands their Immediate Release Joint Action Committee for People’s Rights (JAC) is concerned by the series of unlawful and arbitrary detentions across the country of Mr. Fayyaz Ali Salar, Chairman of Mazdoor Kissan Party and ex-Tehsil Nazim in Charsada and leadership of Awami Action Committee of Gilgit Baltistan including Ehsan Advocate, central Chair of the Committee, Mehboob Walli, President Anjuman Tajiraan and Asghar Shah and dozens of their workers. JAC notes that these detentions are unlawful and without any legal processes. They are part of a state policy to curb dissenting voices struggling for their fundamental rights and legitimate rights over land and resources, particularly the working class. These detentions indicate the anti-worker and anti-citizen approach of the government. JAC condemns these detentions and demand immediate release of these leaders and their party workers. They are all entitled to the right to fair trial and must be given full access to their lawyers to defend themselves against false accusations. They shall also be given access to their families. If government has any valid case against them, the case must be made in a court of law and all procedures of fair trial must be followed. The state must understand that these harsh actions will not demoralize workers associated with these movements, instead will give them energy to struggle with more force.
