With more than 180 million Americans receiving health benefits through their job, employers are uniquely impacted by the market for pharmacy benefit (PBM) services; and employers are also among those most strongly advocating for reform. Our #Access2026 Fireside Chat with @JamesGelfand just wrapped, and explored employers’ efforts to address PBM business practices and what comes next in the debate over PBMs and their role in our healthcare system. Big thanks to James Gelfand, JD, President and CEO, The ERISA Industry Committee (ERIC) and Executive Director, @BiosimsCouncil and Senior Vice President, Policy, AAM, Alex Keeton, for this essential discussion.

HAPPENING NOW @HouseCommerce: "Congress has a real opportunity to unlock even greater savings simply by allowing these [generic and biosimilar medicines] markets to function as intended. Generics are the only sector of the prescription drug market where total spending has declined over time, even as volume has increased." -AAM president and CEO @JAMurphy_III WATCH: youtu.be/_vpu-DZRrE8

Today our AAM team applauded passage of Q1/Q2 legislation as a part of the FY2026 funding bill and called on Congress to take additional steps to reform PBMs. Q1/Q2 will cut red tape, save the U.S. healthcare system over one billion dollars, and bring lower-cost medicines to patients sooner. AAM also commended Congress for enacting initial PBM reforms, but calls for stronger, more robust measures to reign in PBM practices. Read our full press release: accessiblemeds.org/resources/pres…
