An hypothetical Gukesh vs. Javokhir Sindarov World Chess Championship match in November 2026 would set the record for the lowest average age in the history of classical World Championship matches, at an average of exactly 20 years.
Interestingly, the previous record was the 2024 match, Gukesh (18) vs. Ding (32), with an average of 25.
The 2002 FIDE World Championship final between Ruslan Ponomariov and Vasyl Ivanchuk was also close, with an average age of approximately 25,5 years.

so called "world N2" cant handle his own in a chess position once he is out of prep?

"12...0-0 was not in my file!" says Nakamura, "and it was too difficult to find [13.Ne4!] over the board." Hikaru is unimpressed by the work done by his seconds, who he doesn't name but describes as "strong GMs" #FIDECandidates
English

@gutsy_gambit I think its finally noticable Hikaru really is overrated and isnt world N2 material
English

#2 by elo gets immediately thrown off balance the moment a move leaves the file and he tanks.
I mean, even Ding had his long thinks in the WCC, but with him you were a bit more confident that he would handle the positions.

"I didn't expect Hikaru to play h4 - but I also don't understand what he was thinking... I think it's a big mistake to think 1 hour for 1 move probably" - @GMJSindarov after defeating Hikaru Nakamura in Round 5 of the Candidates! Interview: @AmrutaMokal/ ChessBase India

Caruana and Sindarov played padel on the rest day, but not on the same court: "None of us are very good—I can estimate that we're all beginners!"

@BrocolliV74667 he could have never been the world champ he never won the candidates and he wont either Fabiano had it unfortunate cause he had to face magnus
English

As much as I don't like Hikaru, you really do see a chess player realizing they might never be a world champion in this lifetime. Every round you can tell he senses that he's losing the last chance he has/d to be a classical world champion #candidates
English

YES YES FABI MY GOST @FabianoCaruana i love you YOU DID IT AGAIN WE KILL SINDAROV IN THE REMATCH
English

@JBJMMAgoat id suggest watching the games then, buddy, before accusing GMs of cheating. He simply outprepped Fabiano and Hikaru and got them into sharp tactical games without the option to castle safely. thats where hes the best in the world and hes proving it.
English

@Janoff_14 if you look at Sindarovs past results in classical it clearly doesnt add up either he in like 4 months got SO MUCH better than before or hd is cheating
English

@JBJMMAgoat Lmao. Cheating how? It was Hikaru himself complaining about too strict anti cheating regulations at the candidates. Your old players are js washed and didn't deserve to be there in the first place
