Here we go with the silly analogs Fwiw having lived through this period and highly aware of exactly when I was given a demo of Netscape. 12/19/94 is not even close to comparable to 11/30/22 My 84 year old mother was aware and using Chat GPT within 2 months of its release. Web browsers were not widely adopted until AOL cd roms became ubiquitous. At one point in late 1998 50% of all cd roms made had AOL logo on it. In December of 1996 AOL dropped hourly fees for internet usage the heretofore small user base of 8MN users exploded. That data is 730 days later than this chart which would shift the "end" date to today being equivalent to December 98. Now of course 99 early 2000 still went parabolic. So I get it. But this particular analog is simply NOT the same. Frankly even December 1996 was still not even close to chat gpt release and also Chat GPT was niche until Microsoft made its investment in OPEN AI in January of 2023. My own view is the analog is somewhere between Q4-1999 and Q1 2000 based on many factors including the AOL peak ubiquity moment and the emergence rate cuts of 1998 and the analog of somewhere between the SVB bailout and the rate cuts in September 2024

I’ve been generating my own electricity almost exclusively from (the same) solar panels for 20 years at my house. Per acre, solar panels make an order of magnitude (10x +) more energy than any biofuel scheme, but we should be putting them on marginal ground, not prime farmland.
