One final plea to @GovernorVA to make good on her campaign promise. In 5 years of being involved in bringing adult use to Virginia, there has only been one time where everyone in the industry has coalesced...that time is now.

@HempRoundtable not sure about any of your stances in other states but, I can tell you that, as a hemp operator in Virginia, you are being disingenuous to your constituency. You and others continue to perpetuate a narrative that the Governor of Virginia has something other than a binary choice here. Your letter states "and instead support a free-market approach for the emerging hemp and cannabis industry." We would all love a free market approach to cannabis but that ship has sailed. The Governor has no secret option to rewrite the bill and support what you are asking for. She can only do three things. Veto the legislation that has passed, now, 3 times...let the legislation go by and it becomes law...or sign the original legislation that has passed three times and it becomes law. Supporting a veto of this bill that many of us state licensed hemp operators have worked on over the past 5 years is a slap in the face to the groups that you claim to represent. If your donors are all synthetic cannabinoid and THCA flower peddlers then I can see why you would support a veto of this legislation. If you care about the good hemp operators that have been operating in the space since its inception, you should change your tune.

The future of your health is here, it is up to you what you actually do with it...

Let's hope they make good on the June 29th hearing promise of rescheduling ALL marijuana so that small operators can stop paying egregious taxes. States should also be pressured into renaming their adult use programs "medical" so that current operators and equity licensees can also take advantage of what the big girls and boys were just gifted.

@MrKake It's anyone's guess at this point. 50% chance she vetos the original bill, 50% chance she accepts the original bill. We are going to implore the administration for the latter.

Step one in the House complete...her substitute was "passed by for the day" in a block with all other amendments the House rejected...we are officially on the clock. It only takes one chamber to reject, so play ball. The Governor will now have until May 22 to sign or veto...it's go time!
