I’ve always believed it’s important to put away 20% of your income at any income level so your job doesn’t control your livelihood. My neighbor just lost his job and was forced to immediately move his family back to his home country because he couldn’t afford his lifestyle without his current salary. Couldn’t afford to wait for the next job to come. The more savings you have the more options you have over your life.
