Why won’t Republicans do a clean voter ID bill that automatically registers every American on their 18th birthday and provides every registered voter with a free government issued voter ID card? Ditch all the other voter suppression shit and Dems would happily support the voter ID bill.

Here is what’s really going on with regard to the funding stalemate in Congress. ICE agents shot and killed two U.S. citizens on the streets of Minneapolis. Democrats then said: before we write you another check, agree to the same rules every police department in America already follows. Judicial warrants before entering homes. Visible ID. Body cameras. No raids at schools and hospitals. We immediately pushed for votes to fund TSA, the Coast Guard, and FEMA. Republicans blocked it. We tried to fund FEMA alone. Republicans blocked that too. Their position was to fund ICE with no strings attached, or shut the whole thing down. So DHS shut down. Then yesterday, the White House sent a letter admitting we were right. But they still won’t agree to judicial warrants or to take the masks off, which means agents can still break down your door without a judge’s approval and you still can’t see their faces when they do it. We’ve been ready to fund your airport security since day one, not to mention Coast Guard, FEMA and the rest. Republicans chose to protect ICE from accountability instead. #FundDHSFreezeICE

I enlisted to serve my country. They called Muslims “sand n**gers”, “Hajis” and “Joe sh*t the ragman”. They told us “we gotta fight them over there or we will have to fight them over here”, “they don’t value human life like we do”, and “they hate us because we are free”. These were all lies. Dehumanizing propaganda designed to make it more palatable for the public to have our troops kill people by the thousands. I saw my fellow service members die and maimed and kill innocents for these lies. I saw friends lose part of their soul when they took lives. I saw people haunted by screams. I saw veterans kill themselves over the anguish of what they had seen and done. 22 veteran suicides a day for decades. I saw our country’s international reputation destroyed and a trillion dollars wasted for these lies. I’m still angry about it all these years later. This is why I have no tolerance for the same lies being pushed by the same people for another iteration of the same stupidity. These wars of aggression do not serve our country. I am anti war to the core. You will never change me on this.

I really don’t want to hear about how Democrats are projected to take control of the House and Senate. We’ve been here before and look what happened. I want to hear people telling folks to get out and vote to make it happen. Make no mistake, we are the underdogs. We have everything stacked against us, from the media to the attacks on the integrity of our elections with the efforts by Republicans to cheat. We can’t get complacent. We need to actually show up.

In the span of 24 hours, Democrats went down to the Senate Floor with bills to fund TSA, FEMA, the Coast Guard, and our national cybersecurity. Republicans blocked all of them.
