I can't believe it's all due to lack of access to courses, so why aren't they at a minimum expected to have completed APLS or EPALS before being deemed competent to practice?

Very similar vibe here in this national audit of anaesthetists and AAs regarding
-training in managing cardiac arrest
-involvement in such
-confidence in such
-impact of such on the individual
The sample was “all uk anaesthetist and AAs” with around 75% response rate
Anaesthetic Associates had
-less likely to be fully trained
-less involved
-less confident
-more likely to report positive impacts on self of involvement in periop cardiac arrest and less likely to report negative sequelae which are prevalent among anaesthetists

This morning, at 8:30am, students and faculty of the Annunciation Catholic School and Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota were praying during their back-to-school Mass when a cowardly piece-of-shit positioned outside fired into the windows of the sanctuary at children praying in their pews.
Two children—ages 8 and 10—were killed. Fourteen more children and three adults were wounded.
Every act of gun violence is a tragedy, but it’s especially horrific in this instance that children who should have had every expectation of safety were brutally murdered by a shooter who it would strongly appear targeted them for being Catholic.
I’ve never felt safer than when I’m at Mass and in communion with others in the presence of God. That anyone, let alone a child, would ever feel unsafe at Mass is beyond heartbreaking. Words can’t do justice for the pain the families of these children are feeling.
The cowardly piece-of-shit who murdered them took her own life shortly after carrying out this act of carnage. The evidence—not yet fully confirmed—strongly points to her being a trans woman. Reportedly, her mother, a devout Catholic, once worked at the school.
In a rational country, our collective focus would be on alleviating the pain of these families. It would be on asking ourselves how it’s possible for a country that supposedly champions responsible gun ownership to have conditions that would have allowed this cowardly piece-of-shit to have access to firearms.
Instead, the past several hours have seen much of the rightwing ecosystem being laser-focused on the shooter likely being transgender and attempting to exploit this unspeakable tragedy—and the trauma of these families that will never be fully healed—to shamelessly push their anti-trans propaganda.
And so now, it falls to people like me, a trans woman, to properly contextualize gun violence in the hope that the narcissistic bigotry of these clowns can be quickly rejected and the focus solely placed back on the pain of these families, where it should always have been in the first place.
The Gun Violence Archive (GVA) is a nonprofit research group that’s published data online of every mass shooting in the United States since early 2014.
They’ve adapted their definition of a mass shooting from the FBI’s historic definition of mass murder: “An incident in which four or more people are shot and injured or killed, not including the shooter.”
Since 2015, GVA has recorded 5,203 mass shootings, including 286 this year.
According to data provided by GVA to Reuters in 2023—whose analysis was as broad as possible despite questions over the true gender identity of perpetrators—there were no more than—at most—four shooters identified as trans at that time in their records.
Today’s horrific tragedy would make that five.
That would mean trans perpetrators, at most, are responsible for 0.096 percent of mass shootings in the United States since 2015. According to data released by the Williams Institute at UCLA this month, about one percent of the total population of those residing in the U.S. who are aged 13 and older are transgender.
That would mean any given mass shooting is literally 1000x more likely to have been perpetrated by a non-trans person than by a trans person since 2015. You were a thousand times more likely to have been killed in a mass shooting by a person who is not transgender over the past ten years.
According to GVA, 97.7 percent of mass shootings through 2021 were perpetrated by non-trans men, which means, over that period, you were nearly 43x more likely to be killed by a man who is not transgender than a perpetrator of any other gender identity.
If I were using the same logical process as rightwing extremists in this country, it would be very easy to apply this data in support of a proposed ban on non-trans men owning firearms because there clearly seems to be an out-of-control epidemic of non-trans men using firearms to murder innocents in this country.
Instead, I would like everyone to return your attention to the families who are grieving in Minnesota today, whose pain will likely never be fully healed, who shouldn’t have that pain shamelessly exploited by bigoted extremists.
Because I am a Christian and inherently imperfect as a human being, it is my responsibility to be vulnerable with God about the ways in which I have fallen short and ask for forgiveness and strength to grow through God’s mercy.
Tonight, I will ask God for forgiveness over the desire I have felt all day to have been there before this mass shooting occurred and put a bullet in the brain of that cowardly piece-of-shit before she murdered children.
That is me being vastly imperfect and falling far short of Christ’s teachings. That is me being the opposite of Christ, and I pray God will forgive me for it.
Tomorrow, I will go back to asking why this country has gun laws that would have allowed that cowardly piece-of-shit to have access to firearms in the first place.

@cineworld Thanks for responding.. however if there's a sign downstairs it's not very noticeable as I was there last night & didn't see one. I'm an unlimited member so I book via the app... This would be a much better way of letting customers know...
English

Hey Jane, we have spoken to the team who have confirmed there is a sign at the front doors and in the lift when coming from the ground floor to the first floor. There is alternative route available for anyone with accessibility needs, please speak to a member of the team if you require access assistance and they will be happy to help with this
English

@cineworld yet again access issues at your Speke Cinema.. The wheelchair lift is still broken, 3 weeks now, luckily I'm having a more mobile day, Would it kill you to a) put a sign up at the main entrance before someone has battled their way in or b) have it pop up when you book?

@cmclymer Wait till they discover there's Irish & Welsh people that are black too... It's all those years of being an inward not outward looking nation...
