The real problem is "everything apps". Microsoft and Google accounts allow you to access lots of stuff - so if you lose access to the account - you lose everything. This is why I don't use outlook or gmail. My email provider handles only my email. No cloud storage, no social network, no games, nothing else. Same thing with my cloud storage provider - it only stores my files. This X account allows me to shitpost online. It doesn't store my emails or my files.

This is what happens when we leave all of our data and media to an always online server. Make real physical backups of everything. Make backups of those backups when they get old. An all-digital future is no future at all.

@pcgamer PC disc drives died because: 1. DVDs became too small for games - GTA V came out on 7 DVDs - ridiculous 2. Blu-ray drives and discs were very expensive in 2006. They still are. 3. Internet got faster and cheaper also around 2005-2006 or so.

In case you haven't heard, Sony recently announced that it will stop producing physical game discs come 2028. For everyone that comes in with a shitty comment that it’s all on me: Eventhough the security could be tighter from my side (lessons are learned) it bothers me the most that Microsoft says that they cannot recover my account and suspended it.
