972 days ago, Proctorio sued me for sharing links to 7 unlisted YouTube videos. Due to my tweets, they theorize, students learned how their AI surveillance software works. Students have a right to know. It's in the public interest. Our future depends on us knowing how AIs work.

According to messages shared in Twitter Slack, Twitter’s CISO, chief privacy office, and chief compliance officer all resigned last night. An employee says it will be up to engineers to “self-certify compliance with FTC requirements and other laws.”

So, Twitter. In 2006 LiveJournal was acquired by someone new then deleted a bunch of content & made policy changes that made lots of users feel unwelcome. Then a mass exodus & within a few years was basically a dead platform for some communities. 👀 slate.com/technology/201…

An incredible amount of AI hype — across government, AVs, education, medicine, etc. — is based on misleading comparisons between humans and algorithms that overstate the promises and understate the risks of automation.
