@mig_yuri @BGatesIsaPyscho Not sure about that as just Mr. Musk as example has liscenced hundreds of thousands of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will be beaming down all kinds of microwaves. They then link to existing ground hardware to spread farther and faster.

@ZacksJerryRig Watch "Squid Game". It explains everything. First group who tries may die in the process. Then after many more attempts a group gets it right. Then companies like SpaceX or China Inc. can come along and do it easier and better. Thanks to USA Taxpayers, NASA+a few WWII Germans😉

@gothburz What will be the icing on the cake is you will have to convince a super intelligent office employee who doesn't even eat to give you "permission" to plant. Sorry sir your token limit has exceeded for the year. Get back to us next winter 😉

@JCrypDoe The seed already reports. The combine already asks permission. Give it two more seasons and the field files a ticket before it lets me plant.

I am a farmer and the outright owner of a $400,000 John Deere combine, and this morning a sensor decided I am not allowed to drive it. The sensor was working perfectly. That was the problem. An emissions reading drifted, the machine did what the manual calls a derate and everyone out here calls limp mode, and now I have a full tank, a full engine, and 3 miles an hour. It is October. The forecast is rain Thursday. The corn does not care about the settlement. I did everything you are supposed to do. I bought it outright. I did not lease. I have the title, the manual, the torque specs, and 40 years of knowing which bolt is which. I can rebuild the engine on a tailgate. What I cannot do is tell the engine it is allowed to run. Because the thing that stopped it is not a part. It is a permission. The reset lives in software, the software lives with the dealer, and the dealer is 90 minutes away and booked through Friday. So I called. I always call. That is the instruction, and I follow the instruction. They said someone could come Monday. I said the crop will be down by Monday. They said they understood. I have learned that when a company says it understands you, it means it has written down that you were told. Yesterday the FTC announced I won. Right to repair. 10 years of it. I read the whole thing at the kitchen table with the combine sitting dead in the field I can see from the window. Here is what I learned about winning. The settlement says I get the same software the dealer gets, eventually, on a schedule they report every 60 days. It does not say the software arrives before the rain. It does not say the machine will listen to me tomorrow. It says that someday, carefully, I will be allowed to ask it the same way the dealer asks it. I own the steel. I always did. I just found out I have been renting the word go, and the lease has 10 years left, and the corn is still in the field.

I am the Director of Repair Authorization at John Deere. Today the FTC made us give farmers the right to repair the machines they already own. It took a lawsuit, a 10-year settlement, and $1 million paid to 5 states. Read the terms. We kept the part that matters. Here is what we sold you. Steel. 400 horsepower. A cab, a seat, a mirror, a nameplate with your county's dealer on it. You own all of it. It is yours the way a piano is yours. Here is what we did not sell you. The word go. A modern tractor does not run on diesel alone. It runs on authorization. When a part fails and you bolt in a new one, the machine does not simply work. The new part has to be paired, and pairing happens through our software, and our software lived, until this morning, only in the hands of a dealer. You could hold the wrench. You could not give the machine permission to accept what the wrench installed. And when an emissions sensor trips, the machine does something my department is quietly proud of. It goes to limp mode. Full steel, full fuel, reduced to walking speed. 3 miles an hour, in October, with rain in the forecast and the whole year standing in the field. The only thing that lifts it is our authorization, and for years the only hands that held our authorization drove out from the dealership, when they could, for a fee. We sell the steel once. We sell the permission forever. So when they say we lost today, read the settlement the way I read it. 10 years. We report our compliance every 60 days, then once a year, which is to say we have turned handing you your own machine into a paperwork schedule that runs through 2036. Any new repair tool we build, we only have to share once more than 50% of our dealers already have it. We decide when a dealer has it. We build the clock and we wind the clock. They call it the right to repair. What we granted is the right to ask our software for permission, on terms we file every 60 days. You own the tractor. You always did. We own the word go. And today we agreed, in writing, to a ten-year plan for slowly, carefully, on a reporting schedule, learning to say it a little less often.

@JezCorden You forgot the choice of "Xbox was and is on a good path". New management is just being used to fire most the long time workers. Like the 30 year vet who helped make backwards compatibility posible. Now Copilot is on the job for 24/7-365 😢

🇺🇸 Sometimes I really wonder about America. As a Japanese person, most of the hate comments I get on X come from people in developing countries. They may not hate Japan, but they constantly attack and insult the US. It makes me ask: Why does America even bother helping some of these nations? Many clearly hate the US, admire its adversaries like Russia & China, and hate American success. I'm not an isolationist but the US should seriously reconsider sending aid to people who show zero gratitude.

If a match ends with tie, teams settle it with a gun fight 4. No medical assistance. Injured player must pay out of pocket before being treated 5. @better_holland @4Runna97 @NickGroen @Sssebi All I asked was about the nodes. If it takes a million dollars and a handful of people control them how is that any different then what we have now. If I want speed and security today I could spin up an Azure or AWS server and be fine. My thought is for something different.

@4Runna97 @JCrypDoe @NickGroen @Sssebi The goal of a blockchain is not decentralisation but to be secure and unhackable. ICP has never been hacked and can already scale at a wordwide level, can run websites and dapps on-chain, even AI LLMs.

A lot of people are asking me why I keep rooting for Cardano and why I still hold $ADA. The answer is simple. There is no better chain out there. Yes, there are faster chains, more hyped chains but they all have flaws. The biggest flaw of Cardano is that it missed the global adoption for smart contracts in the last bull market, because it was busy building a strong and methodical foundation. Great things take many years to build and test.

@xingsthatmatter It is Googles Dream to be able to track and tag every action a person does. China does it in the open and its company's benefit. Google and Apple have to do it secretly using an accept button for contract noone reads. Not sure either is a great thing just for convenience 😉
