It is so entertaining how Rowling created a world much like Lord of the Rings, one with the aesthetics of Tradition and in which blood is the determining factor, but hot uncomfortable with that and so stuffs the skin suit with liberal pieties about blood not mattering…despite the story she created implicitly (and at times explicitly) saying otherwise Such is the mindset of the “moderate liberal”: I want my cake (functional society rooted in what has always worked) and want to eat it too (not have to admit that respect for natural hierarchy is what makes society work)
