Third attempt at TACO this week (one early in the week by Trump, one Thursday by Netanyahu - was that a NACHO?) Both of those failed because Iran and the bond market both get a say. This TACO attempt and all future ones will also likely fail unless Hormuz is open.
Javier Blas@JavierBlas

BREAKING: Trump on Iran: "We are getting very close to meeting our objectives as we consider winding down our great Military efforts [...] The Hormuz Strait will have to be guarded and policed, as necessary, by other Nations who use it — The United States does not!"

Anne is a terrorist sympathizer and cheerleads for America’s failure. She pushed the Russia collusion hoax, which was ultimately debunked. Total loser. She’s one of these radicals who grew up and was indoctrinated in the Washington bubble, having no original thought.
The Atlantic@TheAtlantic

U.S. allies haven’t forgotten about Trump’s tariffs, his threats against NATO, and his curtailing of aid to Ukraine—so he shouldn’t be surprised that they’re unwilling to help him in Iran, @anneapplebaum argues.

@StevenCheung47 You know a story hits when Steven Cheung takes the time to lift his arms and hold a phone long enough to type this message that looks to be drafted by a 14 year old. Launching into ad hominem attacks and claiming Trump doesn’t have deep ties to Russia. Hilarious stuff.

Let's make something abundantly clear: Criticizing Donald Trump and his administration for getting us embroiled in another foreign war of CHOICE under FALSE PRETENSES while fulfilling Netanyahu's decades-long desire for full throated war with Iran is NOT the same as commiserating with an oppressive regime you disingenuous fool. And a war that has already claimed the lives of US troops as well as over one thousand innocent civilians, some of them CHILDREN... A war that is costing the US taxpayer $2 billion each day it drags on. A war that is crippling the economy; tarnishing whatever integrity and good will we had left on the world stage; igniting both old and new conflicts; paving the way for civil war(s); chipping away at our own defense and weapons capabilities; destroying civilian infrastructure; destabilizing the middle east to the point where we may just end up making life MORE challenging and repressive for those we are supposed to be "liberating," so on and so forth... Yes, condemning Trump for pursuing another needless war at the behest of Bibi Netanyahu; contradicting his EXPLICIT campaign promises, is not the same as sympathizing with terrorists. NOT AT ALL you vacuous and groveling halfwit. This whole argument is weak, ineffective and tired as all hell. Get some new material.

As Joe Kent said on Tucker last night, Iran continues to meticulously stick to the escalation ladder with every move. None of this is chaos or lashing out. They are demonstrating that they can continue to exact greater and greater prices the longer they are under threat.
OSINTtechnical@Osinttechnical

Iran’s strike last night wiped out 17% of Qatar’s natural gas export capacity, repairs are expected to take three to five years -Reuters (Based prewar market estimates, Iran managed to destroy ~3.5% of global LNG capacity in a single strike.)

THE DOMINO EFFECT NOBODY IS EXPLAINING TO YOU Iran is not just a country at war. It's a funding machine. Since 1979, the Islamic regime has been the single biggest financier of terrorism in the Middle East. Here is what collapses the moment that regime falls: DOMINO 1: Hezbollah (Lebanon) Iran sends them $700M to $1B+ per year. That is their entire war budget. No Iran = no Hezbollah. DOMINO 2: Hamas (Gaza) 93% of Hamas funding comes from Iran. $100-350M per year in cash. No Iran = Hamas has no money to fight. DOMINO 3: Houthis (Yemen) $100-200M per year in direct transfers. Plus weapons. Plus training. Plus IRGC commanders on the ground. No Iran = Houthis go back to being a tribal militia with AKs. DOMINO 4: Iraqi Militias Kata'ib Hezbollah. Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq. Badr Organization. All funded, armed, and directed by Iran's IRGC. No Iran = they lose their patron. Fast. DOMINO 5: Syrian Militias Iran spent $16 BILLION propping up Assad. The entire Syrian proxy network runs on Iranian money. No Iran = no money, no mission. People keep asking why this operation matters. This is why. One source. Five networks. Billions in annual terror funding. Pull the source. The whole network dies.

Dem. Rep. Jason Crow claims 40% of Americans see America operating under an oligarchy because Trump is "weaponizing" the DOJ against him. He says Trump tried to throw him in prison for a video telling the troops to obey the law and the Constitution. Reality check: The grand jury never indicted him; no charges were filed, and nobody knows about Jason Crow or this imaginary ongoing investigation.

The US is testing the role as gatekeeper of Iranian oil. It has already become the gatekeeper of Venezuelan oil. This war is about many things, but one is demonstrating to China that the US can control their oil supply in the same way China can control the US's rare earth supply. We wrote about it here: patreon.com/posts/15328907…

@balajis Stop reading at solar panels and batteries get you off oil. Moronic at best. Hydrocarbons are used in every step of the manufacture. Energy density is a concept you fail to grasp. 💯🤡

I'm going to make some obvious points. (1) Blowing up all the oil infrastructure in the Middle East is an insane idea, and may well result in a global economic crash and humanitarian crisis unrivaled in the lives of those now living. We're talking about the price of everything everywhere rising, from food to gas, at a moment when inflation was already high. All of that will be laid at the feet of the authors of this war. (2) The antebellum status quo of Feb 27, 2026 was just not that bad, but we're unlikely to return to it. Expect indefinite, long-term, ongoing disruptions to everything out of the Middle East. (3) Also assume tech financing crashes for the indefinite future. The genius plan to get the Gulf states caught in the crossfire has incinerated much of the funding for LPs, for datacenters, and for IPOs. Anyone in tech who supported this war may soon learn the meaning of "force majeure" as funding gets yanked. (4) Many capital allocators will instead be allocating much further down Maslow's hierarchy of needs, towards useful basic things like food and energy. (5) It's fortunate that all those progressives yelled about the "climate crisis." Yes, their reasoning about timelines was wrong, and much of the money was wasted in graft, but the result was right: we all need energy independence from the Middle East, pronto. It's also fortunate that Elon and China autistically took climate seriously. Now they're going to need to ship a billion solar panels, electric vehicles, batteries, nuclear power plants, and the like to get everyone off oil, immediately. (6) It's not just an oil and gas problem, of course. It's also a fertilizer problem, and a chemical precursor problem. Maybe some new sources will come online at the new prices, but it takes time to dial stuff up, particularly at this scale, so shortages are almost a certainty. That said, China has actually scaled up coal-to-chemicals[a,c] (C2C), and there's also something more sci-fi called Power-to-X[b] which turns arbitrary power + water + air into hydrocarbons. But all of that will need to get accelerated. I have a background in chemical engineering so may start funding things in this area. (7) Ultimately, this war is going to result in tremendous blame for anyone associated with it. It's a no-win scenario to blow up this much infrastructure for so many people. Simply not worth it for whatever objective they thought they were going to attain. But unless you're actually in a position to stop the madness, the pragmatic thing to do is: scramble to mitigate the fallout to yourself, your business, and your people.
