@RileysFarm1776 @merelyjwright There was testimony that some of the mob were trying to track him down, just as they were trying to track down Pelosi. The Secret Service wanted Pence to leave the Capitol for his own safety but he refused to go because he was intent on fulfilling his constitution duty.

I'm entirely exhausted by the double standard in evangelicalism. A conservative can be crucified for made up nothing burgers but people left of center somehow get to maintain the moral high ground when it's useful and they also get to engage in base behavior when it's useful, doesn't matter. I've started legitimately wondering if people on the right should stop trying to prevent the evangelical suicide cult and just let it go. It can lay fallow for a few generations and great grandchildren can rediscover it without all the institutional corruption.

I can only say this ... @Mike_Pence is one of the most Godly and impressive men to have ever held public office in America. I could share personal stories to this effect, but his private acts of piety are not done for public display, and he frankly doesn't care that people see what he does in personal acts of Christian service. There may even be a verse or two about this. And I can say this ... @EWErickson is a national treasure. In a world where the "right" are often morally, theologically, and culturally confused, and they have become the cowards they used to criticize others for being (HHS, geopolitics, economic interventionism - there are few things they have been willing to actually stand up for if it threatened their online popularity from a certain segment) - Erick has been an unrelenting force for good for this country, the conservative movement, and most importantly, the Kingdom of God. There is a faithful remnant. Be part of it.

@merelyjwright Jeff, what have you learned since January, 2021 that makes you think Trump won? I ask because I have followed this issue closely and every study, investigation, and audit has confirmed no widespread cheating and that Biden won.

@JDarling56236 Yes, I think he did. I don't blame Pence for not intervening, though, because it wasn't as clear at the time.

@merelyjwright Looking at your picture, it appears to me you are too young to remember when the term "NeoCons became a term used to describe certain members of the Bush Administration. Pro-Globalization and Pro Demographic Replacement were never a part of that definition.

@RileysFarm1776 @merelyjwright Pence was targeted because of the statements made by Trump. Provocateurs? Are the "some" who "think" folks who believe J6 was a clever plan by Democrats to make sure none of the electoral votes were sent back to states?

@JDarling56236 @merelyjwright That gallows was a prop, of course, and some think it was built by provocateurs. The only people hurt and killed that day were among the protestors, and for Pence to claim his personal safety was endangered by Trump himself just shows what a squish Pence really is.

@merelyjwright Jeff, I took a quick look through your posts and I see that you are a professing Christian. I have an off the wall question for you. Is it your belief that Donald Trump was telling the truth when he said he won the 2020 election or did you believe Mike Pence who knew he didn't?

@jchasedavis @EWErickson @WilliamWolfe J. Chase Davis, are you saying you are unaware of William's near constant attacks against people he disagrees with? I've often wondered if there is a Board over him and if so why they don't hold him accountable for his poor behavior on X.

@EWErickson @WilliamWolfe This is completely inconsistent with who I know William to be. He is a good Christian brother and his work is incredibly valuable. But I guess engaging in this type of character assassination is consistent with someone who uses such vulgar speech on this platform.

Y'all, one final word on @WilliamWolfe before I go back to ignoring him. In the past 24 hours, I have been overwhelmed with emails, private messages, text messages, etc. from people who have gone to church with him, worked with him, or otherwise been the subject of his vitriol. The number of people who have reached out blows my mind. Pastors who are good, Godly men have sent notes of appreciation with stories of William's vitriol directed at them or their friends. His former co-workers and even those he went to church with have stories. What an appalling and abusive person, and he is clearly a very troubled soul. Often, in political movements, the people with serious issues are used by others to attack others. Those above the abusive person and around them egg them on because they'd never get their hands dirty, but have found a useful fool who has no self-awareness to know how dirty he gets himself. So many of the pastors keep telling me they are fearful of engaging because their Twitter timelines fill up with awful invective from people if they respond. I have seen the examples of them being called demons and snakes. First, I wouldn't be surprised if it is him. Second, even if it is not him, they are a small and loud minority. Set your Twitter notifications to only show you tweets from people who actually follow you, or only from those you follow. Ignore the sound and fury of the tiny group of angry people. Also, know you are not alone and know that he has no power over you. He has alienated himself and his Center for Baptist Leadership by his abusive behavior. The darkness will not overcome the light. Lastly, William clearly is a troubled soul and he needs a lot of prayer. I'm going to back to ignoring him now. The rest of you just know I thank you for your kinds notes and you are not alone.

Back in 2016, I was making the "flawed man" argument to evangelicals on behalf of Trump. I think the blog was read at least 2 million times and maybe as much as 4 million, (our analytics went down). Erick Erickson took the position that anyone who used Max Lucado as an example of fake Christian political values was "doing it wrong." I kinda feel vindicated. I only wish I had seen through Pence.. jamespatrickriley.com/index.php/reli…

Christian generosity has nothing to do with your taxes. You as a Christian could support zero taxpayer-funded programs and still be considered a generous Christian. Christians are called to charity. Charity, by definition, is voluntary. Taxes are not voluntary. "Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." - 2 Corinthians 9:7 A lot of times you see these so-called progressive Christians referencing the early church in Acts as giving each other everything that they had to make sure that everyone was cared for as a justification for socialism. But these early Christians gave to one another empowered by the Holy Spirit. They did so voluntarily. They weren't forced by the government to do so. Supporting government programs that take money from one group and forcibly give it to another group is not charity. It's coveting. It's stealing. Forced wealth redistribution violates two of the Ten Commandments: "Thou shall not covet and thou shall not steal." That's why socialism never works and always ends in tyranny and misery. It's an ideology that sounds really compassionate. We hear, "Care for the least of these. Close the wealth gap." But it is always carried out in a way that is anti-God and anti-human nature. It is an ideology that is built on greed and envy. And by the way, outsourcing your generosity to the government is a sin. If you're not forking over your dollars to the needy until the government threatens you with jail, then you are an unchristian miser, not a bleeding heart empath.

@JGWestDI In an Alisa Childers podcast you lamented people who stay in churches where the Pastor has changed his view on gay marriage. Were you referring to Pastors who believe same sex marriage should be legal? Or are you referring to Pastors who say they will perform gay marriages?

Reminder: As I documented in my book Stockholm Syndrome Christianity, this is the same person who in the summer of 2021 demonized fellow Christians who were seeking exemptions from COVID vaccine mandates as having “hardened heart[s]” that “reason and virtue have difficulty penetrating.” He accused them of having a “moral framework that’s broken” and being “dangerous,” “extreme,” and examples of “libertinism” that was a threat to liberty itself. So, David, perhaps you should look in the mirror. You are the one who seems to believe that no person can disagree with you on cultural issues and also be a decent person. But it’s actually worse than that. Disagreeing with COVID mandates was not immoral. It was a reasonable difference of opinion, and yet David sought to absolutize his view on this disputable issue and anathematize as evil Christians who disagreed with him. Fast forward to today: David now insists that someone who uses the name of Christ to baptize and promote really evil things such as killing infants in the womb, the rejection of male and female, and the destruction of biblical marriage is a wonderful example of decency.
David French@DavidAFrench

There are a lot of evangelicals on this website who seem to strongly believe that no person can disagree with them on cultural issues and also be a decent person. This is the mirror image of the hyper-woke left, which also rejects the idea that decent people can disagree. 1/3

@lsferguson @realDonaldTrump @JDVance @AGPamBondi Steve, the most likely answer is the allegations of massive fraud could not be substantiated. It's very easy to make an allegation. But if you want to prosecute based on an allegation, YOU NEED REAL EVIDENCE.

@lsferguson No Steve, the President hasn't failed 3 times in picking his AG. His next pick will fail and any after that as well. It's the nature of the job itself that makes all his picks failures. No Trump AG will ever be successful because the Courts require REAL EVIDENCE of wrongdoing.

Attorney General is the most important appointment a President will make. From what I can see, President Trump has failed 3 times at this. Jeff Sessions, Bill Barr and now Pam Bondi. We need someone with an iron will that will clean out the deep state operatives at the Department of Justice and and start draining the swamp

@BuzzPatterson This is crazy talk. The Vietnam war was unwinnable by the United States. The US could not drive north into N. Vietnam because the Chinese would have entered the war. All the US could do is prop up a S. Vietnam Government. That eventually had to end.
