Got this patient info sheet from the after hours clinic where my son went for an ear issue (not Covid, thankfully) Apparently they are calling Covid a "common cold" now & normalizing kids being sick like 16 weeks of the year "without cause for concern" 😳

Today my dad told me he still didn’t understand why my mom divorced him 17 years ago. I didn’t think he was serious, but when I realized he was I told him why. She was tired of being a married single mother. He was a “stay at home dad” yet she would get home after her hour commute and have to make us dinner, clean the house, & do our bedtime routine. She would also get us ready for the day, even if it made her late to work, while he slept in. All while she paid the bills. This shocked him.

This lady ate a surface-to-air missile, sustained a 12-14 G rocket-propelled ejection, likely hit the ground at 15+ miles per hour… And then she popped up smiling at the locals who came to help her. Tell me again that women don’t belong in combat.

@2A_VET @gtconway3d Have you read the 2001 AUMF? It's explicitly limited to nations which "planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, or harbored such organizations or persons." That doesn't include Iran.

@gtconway3d (2) specific statutory authoritization. The 2001 AUMF passed by congress has no sunset and authorizes every president in perpetuity to eliminate terrorism and state sponsors of terrorism. If congress wants to repeal it, they can.

impossible to overstate how much this affects someone, and how terrifying it is not just for the trans people targeted today, but also anyone - truly anyone - who could have their rights randomly ripped away one day the same way.

Effective tomorrow: all Kansas-issued trans drivers' licenses are now invalid It is now illegal for trans people to drive a car until they go to the DMV (that most will need to drive to) and exchange their license for one with the wrong gender erininthemorning.com/p/kansas-sends…

Long COVID hasn’t disappeared. People continue to develop it after new infections—yet the myth that it’s “over” still persists. Bára’s story shows the reality: after her 3rd COVID‑19 infection in 2025, she became house‑bound with severe fatigue and heart issues.

As a result, the post-2019 years have seen increasing levels for disease-related mortality for the younger age groups. For 5-9 and 10-14 year olds, mortality is now 66% and 38% higher than in 2019, respectively. 2024 was the worst for both of these age groups. 3/x

This is a crime. If you read the Board of Peace charter, you understand it has nothing to do with the American government; it's a private entity Trump created for his own enrichment. This is an impeachable offense, and if this country were not broken he would be gone by tomorrow.

BREAKING: In an extraordinary and illegal move, Trump says he’s transferring $10 billion from the U.S. government to his “Board of Peace,” which he chairs and can use the funds as he wishes. Where is Congress???

I just exercised my right as a Member of Congress to conduct an unannounced oversight visit of the ICE field facility in Baltimore. The staff I met with respected my right to visit, but what I saw was disgraceful. Kristi Noem has a budget of $75 billion she could use to ensure humane conditions, but we saw 60 men packed into a room shoulder-to-shoulder, 24-hours-a-day, with a single toilet in the room and no shower facilities. They sleep like sardines with aluminum foil blankets. Whether it’s for three days or seven days, nobody would want a member of their family warehoused there. The room set aside for dangerous criminals and violent offenders was empty. We’re demanding immediate answers and action.

My coworker used to take the long way home every night. Two extra bus stops, more walking, more money, more time. One day I asked her why she didn’t just take the shortcut alley behind our building. She laughed and said, “Oh, because a guy followed me there once and told me he could ‘do whatever he wanted’ and no one would hear me scream.” So now, every night, she calls a male friend and pretends she’s on the phone with her “boyfriend.” Sometimes she even laughs loudly and says things like, “Yeah, I’ll see you in five minutes, babe,” even when she’s completely alone. Not because she wants attention. Not because she’s dramatic. Because sounding “taken” and “protected” is safer than sounding like a woman by herself. Men cannot even begin to understand the calculations women make every day just to get home alive.

The Corwin Amendment was an attempt by the North, on the eve of the Civil War, to preserve the Union by enshrining slavery in the Constitution. Lincoln supported this effort to strengthen slavery. The North only shifted to emancipation as the war dragged on, for complex reasons
Rhode Island House of Representatives@RIHouseofReps

As Rhode Island and the rest of the country celebrate Black History Month, @RepJoeSolomon is looking to reverse an 1861 action of the General Assembly that ratified an amendment that would have protected the institution of slavery for all time. In 1861, just before the start of the Civil War, Congress made a last-ditch effort to appease the southern states by passing a constitutional amendment that, if ratified, would have constitutionally protected slavery for all time. The Corwin Amendment, named after Thomas Corwin, the Ohio congressman who sponsored it, just squeaked out the two-thirds majority it needed in Congress before being sent out to the state legislatures for ratification. Had it received approval from three-fourths of the states, it would have become the 13th Amendment, but the Southern states all seceded shortly thereafter and the amendment died. But while it never gained any traction, five states, Kentucky, Illinois, Maryland, Ohio and Rhode Island, gave the amendment their seal of approval. “The fact that Rhode Island remains a signatory on this awful amendment is an embarrassing blot on this state and this General Assembly, especially in light of the fact that a mere four years later, this same legislature would overwhelmingly ratify a different 13th Amendment, banning slavery for good,” said Rep. Solomon, who has introduced a resolution (2026-H 7579) to rescind Rhode Island’s ratification of the amendment. “I hope my colleagues in both the House and Senate will join me in righting this historic wrong and bringing some justice that’s 165 years overdue.” More information: rilegislature.gov/pressrelease/_…
