@armchairalex Good point. I love the challenges. Wish they’d give each team 3. Right now you get one wrong, even by a hair, and you’re essentially out, bc teams will save one for the 9th. They are handled quickly—unlike basketball which take forever!—so one more wouldn’t slow the game down.

I wonder if we’ll see fewer players and managers get ejected over ball-strike calls this year. Money where your mouth is. Think it’s a bad call? Challenge it. Out of challenges? Maybe you don’t have much room to complain.

@scottcoleman55 @mlbbowman Would love to see analysis of the Braves injury rate as compared to other teams in last 2 (going on 3 now) seasons. It seems like we have had way above average number of injuries, and to key players, but is that true, or is it just that I pay attention to the Braves?

Hurston Waldrep had some elbow discomfort this week. A MRI showed loose bodies, but the ligament seemed fine. He will see Dr. Meister this week. The Braves don’t know how long he might be out.

Paying $60M/year for a 4 win player is just asking for every other fanbase in the sport to check out before February. Have to do something to fix the sport.

just the 6 of Ohtani, Tucker, Snell, Glasnow, Freeman, and Betts make more money than the entire Braves roster and the Braves have one of the largest payrolls in the sport

2) Valdez and Suarez are clear upgrades. Gallen too, though i wouldn’t give up pick 26 for him unless he signs a VERY team-friendly deal (he won’t). beyond that, you gotta ask yourself if Giolito, Bassitt, etc are any better than out-of-options Elder. (2/2)

Two notes on acquiring a SP: 1) the Braves are now only $21M shy of the $284M 3rd CBT threshold, which i think their hard cap. i don’t see an obvious way to move money without creating a hole (if you hate aaron bummer, what makes you think someone else would pay him $9M?) (1/2)

@scottcoleman55 It’s lazy, but people are using him as shorthand for the Braves ownership. I think pretty much everyone knows that a GM will spend as much as they are allowed to. Most Braves fans (like most fans everywhere) wish the ownership would reinvest more of their profit into the team.

Every day I open this app and see people accusing Anthopoulos of being cheap and not spending “Cheap AA” and “Bargain bin AA” Do… do you guys think he sets the Braves’ budget? Like he has 100s of millions of dollars just sitting there and he voluntarily won’t spend it?
