Fun non-Cyberpunk things I have written: * A book on ropes for Pathfinder 1e. * A bestiary for Castle Flakenstein, written partially as a text by Doctor Dolittle. * A fishing mini-game for Teenagers from Outer Space. * This tweet. * Multiple grocery lists.

@LujackSama @Mephisto_Twitch The New Harbor Mall drew on the original concepts of malls as complete communities rather than just commercial centers.

When Night City was first developed for the original edition of Cyberpunk it was as a template you could lay over any city. It was only moving into 2020 that its geographical location was firmly locked in.

@torinthestorm I’m attaching a shot of the original Night City map. It fits most cities with a waterfront fairly generically, though it was intended GMs could lift the locations and pin them to a map of whatever city they wanted. Notice how simple the various names are.

@JGrayCreator Was it one big map or a bunch of smaller ones that could be rearranged?

@LujackSama @Mephisto_Twitch Like I said, there have been many inspirations for Night City, which itself was created by many writers and artists, including the boss. Going through the TTRPG you’ll find homages to Appleseed, Ghost in the Shell, Neuromancer, Blade Runner, Judge Dredd, and, yes, Batman.

@JGrayCreator @Mephisto_Twitch It seems like Pondsmith used his personal experiences, then was inspired by Frank Miller (Pondsmiths own words btw) We know Miller's Gotham was inspired by Blade Runner, which roots in DADoES... So your point of Blade Runner isn't wrong, but the Gotham inspo is real

@LujackSama @Mephisto_Twitch Night City has been inspired by many works, from comics to movies to books. No one source dominates with the possible visual inspiration of Blade Runner. That doesn’t negate the content of my post. For more context, this is a snippet from the original edition.

@JGrayCreator Weirdly, my first Cyberpunk experience was the original edition and "let's just set it in our hometown but scifi"

@T__Dude According to Mike, as he was driving by it, he thought it was just a perfect spot. A place someone like Richard Night would see as exploitable and easy to build up.

@kalaelizabeth It can be hard to leave behind. For example, even during a vacation I’ll end up with a dozen photos on my roll that are strictly taken to inspire future Cyberpunk thoughts.

@JGrayCreator I've always wanted to ask - for creators who work on story elements of fiction do those stories just stay with you all the time? Are you just having dinner thinking about Night City? Do you dream about it?

I honestly think I might know Night City better than the town I live in by this point.

@JGrayCreator I remember finding that third one a little while back after it was teased. Beautiful shot! That 4th in the suburbs looks crazy too

Four more street scenes from Night City 2045. In this book, we tried to offer a snapshot of each district’s flavor and style with a single piece of art. By Richard Bagnall, Anselm Zielonka & Ernanda Souza.

@Fantasyeconomic I’d personally say that happened in the early 1980s. Though certainly the current interest is high. Like I said, the hobby would survive. Different for sure, but it would.

@tilehopper Night City was originally intended to be every city. It remains universal in experience, I think.

Mass Effect could have it's own Night City right in Illium. Corruption. Danger. Azure. Would be the perfect setting for a new Spectre to be morally questionable in. So much potential
