@BBCr4today consistently trailing Liz Truss is the first female foreign secretary this morning. This must come as a surprise to Margaret Beckett who became the first female foreign secretary 15 years ago.

@GaryAndersonF1 I quite agree. However the sporting regulations have it very clear in black and white. I wonder when it came in? Also slightly surprised to see it snuck in the overall cap is now 3 hours instead of 4

This lap count thing is very strange. Never ever heard of a lap reduction for delayed starts! I think the FIA have made a farce out of their own race-procedure regulations

@SMitchellF1 I think there’s obvious times when an exception could be given. Say Max’s engine block with a crack in it, could easily be confirmed by a scrutineer. As for getting an advantage, as the penalty for an extra PU is a grid drop surely they’ll have suffered worse with a DNF?

The part I find the least fair on innocent teams/drivers is the engine issue. But I don't know the solution that covers making sure stated engine damage is real, stopping drivers getting an advantage for future races with a 'free' PU change, and keeping development costs down.

I completely understand the frustration of having costs to cover (under a budget cap) and likely grid penalties because of accidents that aren't your fault. But isn't that just part of racing? And if you engineer exemptions, that can create its own mess: the-race.com/formula-1/red-…

@wearetherace I think when the stewards have applied a penalty to someone else there’s a clear criteria for when PU penalties shouldn’t apply

Goes without saying, this is very much a hypothetical situation in a world where collisions are 100% one person's fault. In reality that obviously isn't all that common.

Here's a question with relation to the Leclerc news... ...should #F1 drivers have to take grid penalties for new engines if one is damaged in a crash that wasn't that driver's fault? 📰 the-race.com/formula-1/lecl…

@wearetherace @vkhorounzhiy I think this is actually good for F1’s medium term. In say 2/3 years we have the tantalising prospect of Max at RBR, George at Merc, Charles at Ferrari and Lando at MCN all fighting eachother at the sharp end potentially for a decade. It could well become F1s greatest era

Most of #F1's young stars now have long-term commitments to their current teams, but should the likes of Norris and Leclerc have hedged their bets for longer? @vkhorounzhiy argues they should've been "calling Wolff and Horner until their phones crumble": the-race.com/formula-1/risi…

Still stuck. It’s fascinating figuring out what the latest attempt is. Right now: 2 push, 2 pull, the stern? Whilst little digger keeps shovelling away, obvs

When you say “UK” you mean England by the list of places it will be rolled out. I do wish journalists would be more accurate about this. It’s important bbc.co.uk/news/technolog…

@pauldyson @johnsnolan @StarlinkPage Saw some reviews of it in Canada. 140mb & 40ms ping. That’s better than I can get with a wire. Despite living in something resembling civilisation…

@johnsnolan Yeah, but Northumberland's on the list so: Happy Days! (99% sure they mean the bit near Newcastle, little chance it will come all the way out here).
