@Jwillbucks29 @Bd_irB_ll They haven’t, to this point (unfortunately corporate is taking over rapidly), cared about the “product” they “sell” to get their Big Gulp™️ #EPIC Moment of the Quarter, Brought to you by Slim Jim™️ while everyone waves a big foam finger. It’s more about the sport that people love

@JKX_21 @Bd_irB_ll I mean yes it means that to fans but it’s also a product that we’re being sold by FIFA. But whatever its semantics, both can be true.

@Jwillbucks29 @Bd_irB_ll It’s not semantics when the difference in sporting culture is what means rules like this are in place.

@Jwillbucks29 @Bd_irB_ll I do agree that a suspension in a 4-game knock out seems excessive but this rule is only the way it is because it’s the rule, in general - which is the correct rule imo. It seems harsh but, ultimately, why should a rule put in for safety change because it’s a shorter tournament?

@JKX_21 @Bd_irB_ll This is was the point from the very beginning. If this is a constant wreak-less play, be all means tack on more games. Just really is BS to lose a guy over a 1/2 second reaction for an additional game penalizing the entire team and fanbase.

@Jwillbucks29 @Bd_irB_ll In the US. Clubs are the beating hearts of communities all over the world, not conglomerate “franchises” that can change location. Cultural difference means the game is not a “product” to be maximised for capitalistic/commercial gain, but a game that brings communities together.

@JKX_21 @Bd_irB_ll I mean it’s exactly what professional level sports are. We love the game but we’re watching professionals because it’s the best product. I think we’re losing the plot with the “breaking ankles” Playing a sport unfortunate things happen but to lose a player for 1.5 games is bad.

@Jwillbucks29 @Bd_irB_ll Not having the additional game is fine, other than it ceasing to be a deterrent post maybe 70 mins in a match. Also “players get injured and hurt” is ridiculous. Of course they do, innocuous injuries happen all the time, that doesn’t mean dangerous situations can’t be minimised.

@JKX_21 @Bd_irB_ll It’s not a rule change, it’s the suspension of an additional game. Give the red card as normal and make a determination after if the foul constitutes being taken out additional games. Is not that complicated. Players get injured and hurt that’s part of playing physical games.

@Jwillbucks29 @Bd_irB_ll I know, it’s just more of a cultural difference. Most fans of football would never call it a “product” because it’s a very commercialised view of the sport. It’s also irrelevant if the flow of the game feels better if players are regularly (relatively speaking) breaking ankles

@JKX_21 @Bd_irB_ll Product is what we say when good and bad rules or officiating effective the quality of the game being watched. External factors affect the quality of the product we’re watching.

@Jwillbucks29 @Bd_irB_ll Creating a rule based on case-by-case only adds to ambiguity and intent is not included in the rule regardless, partially for this reason. A man down is significant, but if he’s just made a challenge risky enough that it can break ankles, it’s deserved regardless of if accidental

@JKX_21 @Bd_irB_ll I mean in this case it seems very obvious. It wasn’t even called in live action. Playing a man down is pretty significant from my understanding, but escalate for multiple time offenders like most other sports do.

@Jwillbucks29 @Bd_irB_ll It’s not always obvious. The point is to discourage challenging with your studs up at ankle height because it has been found over time that this causes serious injury more often than not. Why wouldn’t you do it more regularly if you just let them play on. “Product” is also funny.

@JKX_21 @Bd_irB_ll Cool that’s not what I’m saying. Change the rule so that an obvious incidental contact doesn’t cost you a player a game and a half. That’s excessive and dumb and takes away from the quality of the product.

@Jwillbucks29 @Bd_irB_ll These rules are made based on input, not outcome. A fast-paced stamp down onto someone’s ankle, even if accidental, is disproportionately more likely to cause a serious injury than other challenges. It doesn’t matter if it didn’t seem bad this time - it’s dangerous in general

@Bd_irB_ll It’s not that we don’t understand it. Just pointing out how excessive and dumb it is. As a casual just trying to support team USA the magnitude of losing a player for a game and a half over a stepped on ankle just seems excessive given the context of the play. But go off.

I don’t like Iraola as the replacement idk. Suits the brand but you can’t dominate a league with that style. We may be a CL team only

@SoccerStash @316simsim Tell me how many of these play LW week in, week out. In what way is Nico (who I rate highly) and Luis Díaz better than him? Leão, as much as he may be better if all attributes were maximised, hasn’t showed this for a year or so in practice. After all this Kvara and Vini are it.

@butleriano Wtf? It's about the melding of urban/rural cultures. It's literally about a Cowgirl moving to the big city. It is a uniquely American song and maybe you're too dumb to notice that?

“Party in the USA” was clearly written with a British artist in mind but none of them wanted to do it because of Wikileaks, so the record company correctly surmised most listeners would be too dumb to notice how weird the lyrics sound coming from a Yank.

@Nozza1903 @bwfcbrandon @muxsin2003 What you’re doing is the same logic as if your new car gets totalled through no fault of your own and someone says “that’s not allowed to annoy you because there are homeless people that exist”. Technically right, but that’s just not how humans can reasonably compartmentalise lol

@LeedsWoody1919 @blow_left So, playing through the speakers while the players were warming up means that crowd noise is played through the speakers (implied obviously that this is meant to mean during the match)? Is that what happened, Mr Woodson??

Anfield. The ground was 20% full when they came out to warm up and they played recorded crowd noise to make it sound like it was full. 😭 Absolute tinpot myth of a ground/atmosphere #LUFC #LFC

@monkeysponge @ChalkyMcRed @JDNalton I don’t need to be convinced of the fact itself - more that I’d be interested to see how much it drops exactly. How many people only go because there’s nothing else on tv for a couple of hours? 10%? 50%? 90%? Either way, it would obviously be a big problem

@monkeysponge @ChalkyMcRed @JDNalton I don’t want them to be in any trouble - but is there an analysis that definitely proves they’d likely be out of business if they did away with the 3pm blackout?

@ChalkyMcRed @JDNalton There's clubs beyond the EFL that will go out of business if the Premier League get their way. These clubs are hubs for communities up and down the UK. Inevitable though they will eventually get their way.
