Let me tell you what breaks my heart most about all of this. 👇🏼 When I was a young kid growing up in the 1970s we had hope. We had aspiration. Was there corruption? Of course there was, but it was veiled. It wasn’t this big. It wasn’t this brazen. When corruption is this visible — this dramatic — at this scale — a young kid looks up and sees a concrete ceiling. They see a two tiered system. One tier for those guys. A completely different tier for the rest of us. And it creates a cynicism that poisons everything. I’m heartbroken by it. And here’s the part that makes it worse. Nothing is going to happen. Trump will make some more tweets and then they’re going to trade the oil markets again. Somebody got short oil right before the president announced we were getting this big gift from Iran. Turns out a Thai tanker passed through the Strait of Hormuz as a sign of good faith. Oil flooded back onto international markets. Oil price dropped. They closed the short position. Made a fortune. And tomorrow they’ll do it again. I think it’s reprehensible. I’ve said it publicly. I’ll keep saying it. But I don’t think it’s changing. And that is the most honest and most painful thing I can tell you today.
