I’m sick (again) and left work early last night. Took some NyQuil and got to bed pretty early for me. Around 10:30pm, I was awoken by a voice saying “Hey, Andrea”. Nobody was there, and my husband hadn’t come to bed yet. I checked my phone to see what time it was and— (1/2)

@andreaberting I once heard my daughter speak to me (really yell) when I made her stay inside as a punishment and took her brother out to water flowers - she had never left the couch but the voice was right there. 😬

@andreaberting Oooh. You need to check out Jim Harold’s Campfire podcast. I love listening to people’s ghost stories. Inspiring as a writer as well!!

@KidLitGN Do publishers want us pre-paired? I write Early GNs and have all my panel descriptions, but I do not illustrate. I have two complete manuscripts. Both intended as series. I just thought publishers preferred to do the pairing.

@jen_linville I think joining #SCBWI isn’t just about the access to classes and community. It’s also a signal to yourself that you’re serious and this is worth investing in yourself.

After a hiatus (marriage, kids, new job…), I am trying to get back into writing and querying. Should I join #SCBWI again? #HoustonWritersGuild? Another group? If you have been in this space and #querying or #writing, what is your biggest takeaway?

What are you doing in November?? I am now registered for 3 #SCBWI events. Two about the space between #PB and #MG. I have been in that space for a decade and have two #EarlyGN series ready to pitch and query. Here’s to the space between (totally singing Dave Matthews) 😀

Update: That was quick. Saw an event I was interested in thru @CarolynBFraiser’s post & decided to join SCBWI again. Only sad part was that half the reason I rejoined & registered was to sign up for a critique from @emilydaluga for one of my early GNs. I am on the waitlist 🤞

@JennJohnson27 I write fiction, but I mostly read NF. I particularly love history books that were written close to the event. I am currently reading The Longest Day -a book about D-day that includes interviews done not long after WWII. Fascinates me.

Book clubs have taught me that reading tastes are wildly personal. Some people read to learn about other cultures. Others for rhythm and language. Some read to keep up with the zeitgeist—to be part of the conversation. Others want to see themselves reflected, to feel a familiar ache or hope. Some crave pathos. Others need a happily ever after.
