"We took 13 sectors (coffee, tea, fish, flowers, beef, dairy, grains, cement, fruits and vegetables, tourism, sugar, steel& banana flour) and studied them. We looked at if you filled certain gaps in each of the sectors. We arrived at the $6 billion target. We took a model: market research to avoid blind trade, establish a trade hub. This doesn't have to be new markets but older markets. When you do that, markets demand standards, when you work on this, you need infrastructure. Even with three three, you can't support companies unless you lower interest rates at less than 3%." #TheCapitalGang

📍Bat Valley Primary School, Kampala. The Movement always overcame by humility and teaching her leaders to face a rapidly shifting world. It also grew stronger because a few leaders faithfully gave up personal and family comforts for the greater good. Teaching various NRM groups these days, you begin to ask yourself existential questions- will this organization survive the onslaught of social media, the absence of a foundry of leaders, and the utter lack of memory of where we came from? Even the ten-point program that was a set of principles to guide a young unknown group of leaders then or what both Kawumu and Kanyanda locations in Luwero meant for developing the foundational theory, is not in the domain of young people. When the biblical Moses was preparing the young generation to cross into the promised land, he re-read the book of the law (Deuteronomy) and set the principles to guide the young for the old had all passed on in 40 years of wanderings. The 10-point program led us from a low base into the 2005 distillation as now a party of four principles. The lack of teaching and preparation for leaders is a breeding ground for much confusion in our leadership structures. I hope the message on the economy, enterprise, and markets can rally all of us to deal with the disorganization and selfishness I see among our leaders. These groups we met today are an early sign that our people can cooperate and begin to see a single dashboard on the things that matter for Uganda. "I won’t stop teaching for I do not know who might pick the seed that will give us a tree."

Uganda registered a trade surplus with @EUinUG for the first time in history. In the year leading up to 2023, Uganda exported €800M to EU and imported €700M. @paceidug is doing something. People who say it can’t be done, shouldn’t interrupt those who are doing it—Bernard Shaw.

Mr. @Odrek_Rwabwogo emphasizes the importance of unity to the over 10,000 graduates from Ankole region on Sunday at Booma Grounds, Mbarara City. "We must work in unity because everybody wants to work on their own in our country. There is no success unless you really bring particular products to create industries. For example, President @KagutaMuseveni launched here (Mbarara) a Tin factory not far from here a month ago. For you to succeed with tin, you must be assembling radios, laptops and other things. But if you get tin and combine it with copper which we have, then you can make brass. Brass is what we use on bullets and vehicles etc. Industries have to be strong in order for investment to come in. You cannot have one company create an industry, it takes a lot of time. The point of unity is to help us create industries on value addition and processing on those things."

@paceidug and @dit_uganda graduated 6,112 people in carpentry, electrical, Agri-value addition, and more under a partnership to drive export consortiums for the 13 products we aim at. This is the supply side of labor, and our aim is to stimulate demand for jobs by increasing external sales based on the local increases in production. Firms need skills not degrees and people need to pick up where they left off in education and compete. Both 65-year-old mothers graduate with their children. We thank HE @KagutaMuseveni for opening up all windows to education regardless of age and MAAMA @JanetMuseveni, education minister for letting us partner with @dit_uganda to drive this change. #ExportStrategy #PACEID
