#NYGiants    have now lost games when they took the lead with 25 seconds and 31 seconds left in the first 7 weeks of the season. Thats awful. Hold open tryouts for a kicker. HC, GM and DC gotta go after this collapse

Miami was the better team tonight… Cristobal playing for a college kicker to make a 47 yard field goal was hilarious though

@Robslapshot You gotta put LSU in front of Texas for the sole reason they actually won in away game in a very hostile environment against a very good team. Texas looked pretty anemic in their loss at Ohio State.

@rpmorris1 Typical Mario on the offensive side of the ball there. The OL and DL look really good. These two continue to play like this and this team can be really really good

@MountainRoche Congrats. Always love to see people like yourself and other elites pay homage to the old record holders who did it without carbon plated shoes and bi carb and specialized hydration. They were powered by Gatorade and PowerBars. 🤣

New course record at the Leadville 100 Miler in 15:12:30, 14 minutes ahead of last year. I would have given that a 1 in 1,000 chance before the start. What just happened?! We share every detail while it’s all fresh in our sleep-deprived minds ⬇️ open.spotify.com/episode/1fVsMZ…

@runcandice @zbitter Better yet, go do the run on your own or with a group of friends, in unsupported /screwed style and donate what you would have spent on race entry, supplies, etc to the local park/trail conservation agency

Crew are problematic for race permitting for most trail races. They are always the biggest factor in having issues with permitting agencies. Would love to see more races not allowing crew and pacers in large part because I want to see what wet are capable of individually — just more interesting to me personally.

IMO, this is a very fair set of questions we should be asking about the topic of how much is too much support in ultras. At what point is it no longer a shared experience, because the challenging parts of a course can be offset by a much larger margin for some.
kilian jornet@kilianj

As elite athletes we try to maximise and optimise aid stations, but doing so we are bringing every year more crew and spending more resources on it. Is that fair? Should we regulate to ensure fairness or leave it free? I wrote my thoughts 👉fjell.cc/the-aid-statio…

I think the difference I see is with club runs and fat asses they were rarely done as goal events, but rather by individuals already fully immersed in running. Now I see people putting together structured training plans, sometimes for a solo effort. They may be born out of the same desire though? Something like a fat ass could be done at an area where an event couldn’t or would be difficult to exist, and a solo marathon could be done by someone who otherwise would have to travel and spend a lot of money to find a fast course.

Something I am noticing more of in the running world is people doing recognized distances, but not at an event. Example, someone will share with me they are training for a marathon, I'll ask which one, and they will say just setting up my own route. I don't remember this happening years ago.

@zbitter Couldn't you call every run you do a race? My 4 miler this morning...some would call a training run, but it was "Jason's Thursday 8/7 4 Mile Run For Hulk Hogan". And yes, I won. My 126th race of 2025 & my 126th win!! 🤣 🤣 🤣

@Kerrcybertruck We dont even know if any othet ciities are even bidding on it. We all know there are other places you COULD hold it, but cities aren't going to want to lose what could be copious amount of money. Yes fans will come but how much is USATF asking for?

I’d like to offer 3 other places besides Eugene that would absolutely have an average attendance much higher than 7,419 people Just because Nike/Oregon bankrolls USATF doesn’t mean we need to keep hosting big meets in a small city in the most remote corner of the country

Since 2001, the average daily attendance for USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships in Eugene is 7,419 (including the 2022 COVID dip). Everywhere else? 7,410 Based on the data that USATF has, there’s no compelling reason to have USAs anywhere else but Eugene.

@PeterJakes @stevemagness This is impossible to do for track. Remember a pool built still easily fits on the floor of the stadium. You'd have to build the track ridiculously high off the ground to account for the turns. Seating in these football stadiums is permanent so you'd have to build up.

Swimming has its own problems but they did come up with the bold idea of holding their Olympic Trials in Indianapolis using a temporary pool built in a football stadium. 20k spectators and the unusual venue generated even more attention. Plus Indy is in driving range of 10’s of millions of more people than Eugene.

I’m not here to be a Debbie downer. But this is sad. This weekends USAs had so many crazy races. And we get 6k people showing up. We need more venues than middle of nowhere OR, and better marketing/ideas. The athletes deserve it. They are putting on a show.

@atxgoodguy Is there anyone else who actually bids on it? My guess is the guarantees/kickbacks USATF wants are way higher than most cities/venues are willing to go. Logistically Eugene has it down pat for big meets. Facility is amazing. Lodging $ for spectators and access from east suck
