The idea that one missile hitting one radar suddenly makes the entire American defense network in the Gulf blind is exactly the kind of cartoon level claim that shows someone is pushing Iranian propaganda instead of understanding how modern military systems actually work. The United States does not build billion dollar defense architecture that collapses because one piece of equipment gets hit. That would be beyond incompetent and the American military does not operate like that. Everything is layered and duplicated specifically so a single loss does not matter. Start with the most obvious point. There is never just one radar covering a theater of war. The Gulf region is packed with sensors operated by the United States and allied countries. Patriot batteries have their own radar systems that track incoming missiles and guide interceptors. THAAD batteries also use powerful X band radars called AN TPY two that can detect and track ballistic missiles from enormous distances. Those radars alone can track launches hundreds or even thousands of kilometers away depending on the trajectory. They feed data directly into the missile defense network and can guide interceptors even if another radar disappears. Then there are the naval systems. United States Navy destroyers and cruisers in the Persian Gulf and nearby waters carry the Aegis combat system with SPY series phased array radars. Those radars are extremely powerful and designed to track hundreds of targets at the same time including ballistic missiles. A single Arleigh Burke class destroyer can act as a major missile defense node by itself. Put several of them in the region and their radar coverage overlaps across huge areas of airspace and ocean. Now add the airborne radar layer which people spreading these claims conveniently ignore. The United States flies aircraft that are literally flying radar stations. The most famous is the Boeing E three Sentry which people usually call AWACS. That aircraft has a giant radar dome on top that scans hundreds of kilometers in every direction while flying high above the battlefield. Because it is thousands of feet in the air it can see far beyond the horizon compared to ground radar. It constantly feeds targeting data to fighters missile batteries and command centers. Another key aircraft is the E two Hawkeye which the United States Navy uses from aircraft carriers. It performs the same early warning function and coordinates air defense for naval forces and regional operations. These aircraft are built specifically so the network still works even if ground installations are attacked. Then there are fighter aircraft themselves. Modern jets like the F thirty five and advanced versions of the F fifteen carry extremely sophisticated radar systems. Those sensors are networked together so each aircraft becomes part of the detection system. They share information through data links that combine everything into a single operational picture. Go even higher and the entire planet is being watched by missile warning satellites. American early warning satellites detect ballistic missile launches the moment the rocket motor ignites because the infrared sensors see the heat plume from space. That information is sent immediately to command centers and defense systems around the world. That means the launch itself is detected before any ground radar even begins tracking the missile. Put all of that together and the claim that destroying one radar blinds the United States is ridiculous. The whole system is designed so that dozens of sensors overlap and share information. Ground radars track the missile. Ships track the missile. Aircraft track the missile. Satellites detect the launch. Fighters relay targeting data. Interceptors from Patriot THAAD or naval systems engage the threat. That is the entire concept of integrated air and missile defense. Multiple sensors feeding one network so the system keeps functioning even when parts of it are damaged or destroyed. So when someone says one missile hitting one radar suddenly crippled the entire American defense network in the Gulf they are not describing reality. They are repeating a dramatic talking point that ignores the layers of ships aircraft satellites radars and interceptor systems operating across the region every hour of every day. The United States military spends hundreds of billions of dollars building redundancy into its systems precisely because it expects equipment to get attacked in a real conflict. That is the entire reason the network exists in the first place.
