@donmcgowan @annettedittert @PGroenhuysen Indeed it’s ridiculous. Johnson was ousted by a rabid left wing establishment for eating cake. Starmer has displayed, on a weekly basis, complete incompetence as a politician. A total embarrassment for our country.

@annettedittert @PGroenhuysen Collective, selective amnesia, Annette. I wrote exactly the same this morning. Our media are so hellbent on destroying Labour that they’re creating utterly nonsensical comparisons.

I would really appreciate if those Starmer - Johnson comparisons would stop immediately. Has everyone really that short a memory of how Johnson behaved and how he governed ?

'They would be barmy to get rid of Starmer!' Labour grandee Alan Johnson says the PM has achieved far too much to be replaced as party leader.

@Dan4Barnet Inflation and unemployment only falling from the high levels reached under, yes, the Labour government. But both are still higher than the day you took power.

Latest on the UK economy before the Iran conflict... - NEW today: borrowing: falling, down by £20bn last year - inflation: falling - unemployment: falling - interest rates: 6 cuts, more to come We were making good progress, and had set ourselves up to be more resilient against shocks with £24bn headroom and support for families, taking £117 off bills.

For the love of all that is good can we please just stop all the bullshit, start the process of rejoining the EU, tell the right wingers & Trump sycophants to go fuck themselves, put the last decade of clusterfucks behind us, & start to improve people’s lives & finance again.

The number of migrants arriving in the UK on small boats this year is 36 per cent down on the same period last year - which starts to take the wind out of Reform’s sails on their flagship grievance.

@MatthewStadlen I spoke to a number of people in the supermarket when doing the weekly shop. TBH they weren't particularly interested. They were more concerned about the rising costs & the cost of living.

Tich Freeman’s bowling figures are rather incredible. 5 ft 2 tall Freeman of Kent is the only man to take 300 wickets in an English season. He took 3,776 First Class wickets at 18.42 between 1914 and 1936 🤯

@gorbalsgoebbels What about pushing the appointment through without due process against the advice of senior civil servant, Case. Then pressuring FCDO to push through with process that No.10 didn’t want. Then sacking senior civil servant when he follows the process that No.10 didn’t want?

I see Chris Mason is continuing his bullshit against the PM. Making a shit appointment for an Ambassador is not a resignation offence. It simply is not. Now fuck off and get on with reporting news not shit stirring.

@MatthewStadlen According to Robbins due process was only followed because FCDO insisted on it. No. 10 didn’t seem to think DV necessary. Probably why they never, at any point, sought to ask the question about it.

Listening to Treasury Minister James Murray on the BBC, the government’s position appears to be that due process was followed in the Mandelson appointment but that the process was wrong and Sir Olly Robbins failed to spot that the process was wrong.

Starmer is the line that is protecting us from a descent into foreign funded dangerous populism. He doesn’t need to be doing this. We need him to be doing this. Support him @SkyNews @TimesRadio @LBC

❤️🔥‼️Bold and Brave You don’t have to pretend everything is flawless to recognise strong leadership when it shows up. Keir Starmer @Keir_Starmer has brought something that’s been missing for a long time in British politics: steadiness under pressure and the willingness to make tough calls, even when they’re unpopular. He’s not leading by chasing headlines — he’s leading by taking responsibility. That takes backbone. Whether it’s restoring credibility to government, focusing on long-term stability @RejoinP @EuropeFife or refusing to play to extremes, there’s a clear sense of direction. That kind of discipline and restraint isn’t flashy, but it’s exactly what serious leadership looks like. No Prime Minister gets every decision right, and fair criticism matters. But boldness isn’t about perfection — it’s about having the courage to act, to stand firm, and to keep moving forward when it would be easier not to. Right now, Britain doesn’t need theatrics. It needs resolve. And whatever disagreements people may have, there’s a growing recognition that Starmer brings that resolve in a way that’s grounded, deliberate, and quietly determined. @UKLabour @10DowningStreet @LaindonFEMINIST @TedUrchin
Ruby@RedgemTree

@Inevitablewest I don’t hate him. Nor do many others. Agree not perfect and Mandelson appointment a mistake but never been a perfect PM and glad we have this one right now!

@debra_shakes They ousted Johnson for eating some cake for heavens sake. How can you possibly say they were easy on him?!! Sanctimonious Starmer prattled on relentlessly about how he wouldn’t throw his aides under the bus. Look what’s happening now!

I'm not a big fan of Starmer, but he has just wiped the floor with Badenoch at PMQ's. She can't let go of the Mandelson issue, most people don't understand it, or care about it.

Or to put it simpler: Starmer's position is simultaneously that Mandelson's appointment followed due process & that it exhibited such serious process failings that they justified summary dismissal of the Permanent Under-Secretary at the Foreign Office.
