@James_Gross If and when the "largest autonomous [freeway] transit network in the world" is in operation, the design may support movement in many multi-passenger vehicles in a variety of sizes, including buses of all sizes, six to 100 passengers each, mixing safely with small private cars.

Serious situation developing in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico today. All flights between @flySEA and PVR are cancelled at this point. Local media reports cartels have blocked roads near the airport and started fires. Flight trackers show U.S. and Canadian airlines are cancelling/diverting flights. @komonews

You want to punish drivers to fund the transit system but you are unwilling to punish the thousands of people who are stealing from the transit system every single day by jumping the turnstile. We see it, and so do most New Yorkers. The hypocrisy is staggering and it’s time to fight back against the anti working-class politicians.

@BPolatseck BP: Can you name, aside from a few Tweeters, any NY State official, NYC govt official, regional planner, think tank pundit, or dues paying enviro activist who has written that the GOAL of pricing up Manhattan car travel is to ban private vehicles of working-class New Yorkers?

We need a pro-car alliance for working-class New Yorkers. Yes, we want safe streets. We also need to stop the activists trying to make driving a luxury only the rich can afford. The goal is to ban cars. If working-class people don’t unite, they’ll succeed.

@humantransit Jarrett: (1) NYC regional public transit is already the most extensive in USA, and could/should be improved. (2) The lower Manhattan road pricing zone established January 6, 2025 is making good progress in managing inevitably limited street space, and could/should be improved.

Working-class New Yorkers need a great transit system. That’s the only way to make the city work for everyone, because there isn’t enough space for everyone to drive. Car lovers will always try to wrap their self-interest in “working class” vibes. Notice this, and be bored.
