🦔Microsoft canceled its internal Claude Code licenses this week after token-based billing made the cost untenable, even for a company with effectively infinite cloud resources. Uber's CTO sent an internal memo warning the company burned through its entire 2026 AI budget in just four months. American AI software prices have jumped 20% to 37%, and GitHub (owned by Microsoft) is dropping flat-rate plans for usage-based billing across its products. My Take The AI subsidy era is ending in real time. The same company that put $13 billion into OpenAI and built the Azure infrastructure powering most of Anthropic's compute just looked at the bill from a competitor's coding tool and decided it was not worth paying. That is not a productivity failure on Anthropic's end. Token-based pricing is forcing every enterprise customer to confront the actual cost of running these models at scale, and the number turns out to be far higher than the flat-rate experiments suggested. This ties directly to my Gemini Flash post yesterday. Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google all raised effective prices in the last six months. Enterprises that built workflows assuming AI costs would keep falling are now watching annual budgets evaporate in months. Two outcomes look likely from here. Either enterprises scale back AI usage to fit budgets, which slows the revenue ramp the labs need to justify their valuations ahead of IPOs, or the labs cut prices and absorb the losses, which makes the unit economics worse at exactly the wrong moment. Both paths land in the same place, the numbers stop working, and somebody has to take the writedown. Hedgie🤗

@JOTADESTROY I hope so. The only possible solution is universal capital ownership. Current boomer politicians will never implement this, though, it’s time to replace the geriatrics.

If AI agents can think, robots can work, and automation can produce abundance, what moral argument is left for keeping people poor? I’m genuinely asking. At what point does scarcity stop being natural and start being a policy choice?

Look, if you don’t like the ending of any movie, you can soon just export the file, put it into one of the increasingly high quality open weights video models, and do whatever remix you like. We aren’t all the way there, but we’ll be there soon. Prompts will promptly disrupt Hollywood.

Acelerar.

As evidenced by the unbridled promotion and implementation of technology at the expense of human dignity, we are truly experiencing an eclipse of the sense of what it means to be human. It is imperative to recover an understanding of the true meaning and grandeur of humanity as intended by God. It is in this sense that the challenge we currently face is not technological, but anthropological, and it is my hope that the Encyclical Letter to be published within a few days will contribute to answering this challenge.

Elon Musk's advice for young people: "Err on the side of optimism. Be optimistic about the future.. It's better to err on the side of being optimistic and wrong, than pessimistic and right. Your quality of life will be much better I would urge people to be excited about the future. I'm excited about the future. I'm confident the future will not be boring. It's going to be very interesting and I think it's like, most likely to be great I'd advise people to learn as much as possible, read a lot of books, try a lot of things"

Elon Musk just quietly defined the entire point of his existence. Musk: “It’s important to make life multi-planetary, such that if there is a natural disaster or a man-made disaster on Earth, that consciousness continues. That’s the purpose of SpaceX.” He didn’t say profits continue. Didn’t say the economy continues. Didn’t say the species continues. He said consciousness. That word choice tells you everything. He’s not thinking about humans as labor or consumers or GDP. He’s thinking about humans as the only known phenomenon in the universe that can look at the stars and ask why they’re there. And he’s terrified that phenomenon might be temporary. Most CEOs are optimizing for the next quarter. This man is optimizing against extinction. Musk: “Tesla is obviously about sustainable technology and at this point we’ve added to our mission sustainable abundance.” Sustainable abundance. Two words that were never supposed to coexist. Sustainability has always been sold as sacrifice. Use less. Drive less. Want less. Make yourself smaller so the planet can breathe. Musk rejected that entire premise. He’s not asking you to shrink. He’s engineering a world where there’s more of everything that actually matters. Energy. Mobility. Autonomy. Surplus. Not scarcity repackaged as moral duty. Abundance engineered to outlast us. Pull back far enough and the architecture reveals itself. SpaceX exists because Earth might fail. Tesla exists because Earth is still worth the fight. One is the backup drive for consciousness itself. The other is the upgrade to the system already running. Same mind. Both companies. One thesis. That’s not a portfolio. That’s a civilizational insurance policy built by someone who actually ran the numbers on extinction. Every other company on the planet is optimizing inside the system. Musk is the only one building outside it. Nick Bostrom made an argument most people ignored. The expected value of preventing extinction is so high that almost nothing else a human can do even registers on the same scale. If he’s right, the most important person alive isn’t running a country. He’s launching rockets from South Texas and stacking batteries in the desert. The one person who actually grasped what’s at stake gets ridiculed daily by people who’ve never once thought past their own lifetime. Everyone else is rearranging furniture on a ship they think can’t sink. Musk is building the lifeboat. And the exit. And the reason to stay.
