@DrNeilStone The reality is that smoking, hypertension medication and improved surgical procedures are by far the largest contributors to this.

@DrSeanBreen @briansoloman MESA Study (2014, Budoff et al.): People with CAC = 0 had a 10-year coronary event rate of ~1–2%, even when they had risk factors like hypertension or high LDL.

@briansoloman You can have a zero calcium score and a 70% blockage. Calcium is a late manifestation of plaque and often patients with zero calcium scores have soft plaque that goes undetected

I had a coronary artery calcium (CAC) score image and report done yesterday. As you may or may not know, I've either been strict one meal a day, and/or a strict carnivore for probably a decade. I've had high cholesterol all that time as well - around 300-350 - which is why my doctor made me do this test. My CAC score came back this evening: LMA: 0 LAD: 0 LCx: 0 RCA: 0 Other: 0 Overall score: 0 Coronary Age: <35 years old (I'm 49 years old) I'm not saying anyone should do what I do. I was genuinely scared to do this and to get the results. I'm very relieved to see that I'm without arterial calcification, and healthy AF. But I thought I would share. @SBakerMD

🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨 BREAKING: FIRST PUBLICATION NOW AVAILABLE —> doi.org/10.1016/j.meta… KETO-CTA (#LMHRstudy) vs Control (#MiHeart) -🙏Please Share! 🙏- METHODS – 80 Participants of #LMHRstudy fell within #MiHeart age range and were then matched 1:1 for age, gender, race, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and past smoking to asymptomatic subjects from the #MiHeart cohort. PRIMARY ANALYSIS – High resolution heart scans (#CCTA) allowing for primary analysis of Total Plaque Score (TPS), Total Stenosis Score (TSS) and Segment Involvement Score (SIS) RESULTS The matched mean age was 55.5 years, with mean #LDL cholesterol of 272 mg/dL (max LDL-C 591) mg/dl and mean 4.7 years duration on a ketogenic diet. 🚨 There was no significant difference in coronary plaque burden of #LMHRstudy (mean LDL-C 272) cohort as compared to #MiHeart controls (mean LDL 123 mg/dl); nb: pre-KETO LDL-C in KETO group was 122 mg/dl 🚨 There was no significant difference in CAC (median and IQR) [0 (0,56)] versus [1 (0, 49)], p = 0.520 🚨 No relationship of LDL-C elevations and plaque ⚠️ NOTE: This analysis is on baseline scans, we will have further data on the Keto-CTA longitudinal analysis in the coming months. And — as always — please continue to work with your doctor. 🙏🙏🙏 Special thanks to everyone who got us to this first publication milestone. 🙏🙏🙏 Extra shout out to @nicknorwitz @DrRagnar @AdrianSotoMota @khurramn1 and, ofc, @BudoffMd And a MASSIVE thanks to everyone who has contributed their money, time, and/or sharing to help us spread the word and make this research a reality! (PS — this is unfortunately not Open Access as this wasn’t an option we had available for us — but the full manuscript will be published soon as a separate paper and *will* be open access)

Ketones May Help Reverse Cognitive Decline Researchers explored the impact of acute insulin resistance on brain function, focusing on the hippocampus in mice. They discovered that insulin resistance impairs critical neuronal functions such as synaptic activity, axonal conduction, and network synchronization. By administering D-βHb, a form of ketones, they were able to restore these functions, suggesting a potential therapy for neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's. The study highlights the importance of early intervention to prevent the long-term effects of insulin resistance on the brain. 1/3

Hey Carnivores, What's your beef with lamb? I attract and service a lot of carnivore/low carb folk. Everyone wants Beef Scotch for dinner every night - hardly anyone asks for lamb chops! What gives? Lamb is so much faster to produce on farm and it's way easier to process + less capital outlay. I wish more carnivores ate lamb!

Avoid these 9 mistakes 👇 1. Losing sight of dreams and falling into work for work’s sake (W4W). 2. Micromanaging and e-mailing to fill time. Set the responsibilities, problem scenarios and rules, and limits of autonomous decision-making—then stop, for the sanity of everyone involved. 3. Working where you live, sleep, or should relax. Separate your environments—designate a single space for work and solely work—or you will never be able to escape it. 4. Not performing a thorough 80/20 analysis every two to four weeks for your business and personal life. 5. Striving for endless perfection rather than great or simply good enough, whether in your personal or professional life. Recognize that this is often just another W4W excuse. Most endeavors are like learning to speak a foreign language: to be correct 95% of the time requires six months of concentrated effort, whereas to be correct 98% of the time requires 20–30 years. Focus on great for a few things and good enough for the rest. Perfection is a good ideal and direction to have, but recognize it for what it is: an impossible destination. 6. Blowing minutiae and small problems out of proportion as an excuse to work. 7. Making non-time-sensitive issues urgent in order to justify work. Focus on life outside of your bank accounts, as scary as that void can be in the initial stages. If you cannot find meaning in your life, it is your responsibility as a human being to create it, whether that is fulfilling dreams or finding work that gives you purpose and self-worth—ideally a combination of both. 8. Viewing one product, job, or project as the end-all and be-all of your existence. Life is too short to waste, but it is also too long to be a pessimist or nihilist. Whatever you’re doing now is just a stepping-stone to the next project or adventure. Any rut you get into is one you can get yourself out of. Doubts are no more than a signal for action of some type. When in doubt or overwhelmed, take a break and 80/20 both business and personal activities and relationships. 9. Ignoring the social rewards of life. Surround yourself with smiling, positive people who have absolutely nothing to do with work. Happiness shared in the form of friendships and love is happiness multiplied.

@adcock_brett Another way to think of this is the company does not offer growth or opportunities. Markets can also generate movement to better pay. Contractors will have shorter tenure. A lot of reasons can apply.

I often see resumes where someone has worked at 6 companies over the last 10 years. I'm staring at one right now. These job-hoppers usually last a little under 2yrs per company on average. If someone has a jumpy resume, it's the first thing I notice. It's so blatant to me, yet it continues to fool a lot of people. Thinking back over the last 15yrs at my companies: I've hired thousands of people, and I can't think of a single person I've hired with a jumpy resume who has worked out long-term. Not one.
