The US is a constitutional republic that operates as a representative democracy. The Constitution (Article IV, Section 4) guarantees "a Republican Form of Government." It's not a pure/direct democracy—founders like Madison warned against that in Federalist 10 to avoid mob rule. We elect reps, with checks/balances and rights protections. Both terms apply, but "republic" is more precise per the founding docs.
@UsernameUNVL8L@Oceanbreeze473 😂 no, not me. Ultimately not the world any of us sane people want to live in. But if this situation happened to me, I would protect myself and my family. It would just be nice to have a clean up crew like that available. 😊
@Nobunny333 What I saw was a very broad judgment call. I just wanted to refine it a little bit and not be so broad. But still trying to keep the same tone.
I’ve run into these kinds of people before. Usually when I get to know them I realize they don’t have a good self image. They need to feel superior to others but they find even that doesn’t work. It’s just something missing inside. In college, I had one girl tell me I’d be just perfect if I were a little taller. I realize now that if it wasn’t that, it would be something else. Ultimately you can’t expect others to make you happy. You learn to be happy and grateful in your own skin.
the most common thing boys my age say when they see my freckles is “you’d be prettier without them. maybe then someone would even date you”
i know they mean well, but it still hurts 🥹🧡
@JRFrogman@JohnSmith2hdc@AlBuffalo2nite Hey John Feeney, you pointing out that 1000% is not scientifically possible seems like you’re trying to seem smarter b/c we dont believe in God but you knew the intention. Also don’t be mad when you see us in heaven, us non-believers right next to the “chosen” 😉.
@1791lolo@JohnSmith2hdc@AlBuffalo2nite Nope! I’m not trying to prove anything. I’m just doing what you guys seem to be doing and that is holding everyone accountable for their comments. John Smith seems adamant about making sure we know our Christian beliefs are total BS. I’m just trying to clarify the situation.
@JohnSmith2hdc@1791lolo@AlBuffalo2nite It’s up to you where you put your faith. 1000% is not scientifically possible but I wish you well. I hope it works out for you.
@JRFrogman@1791lolo@AlBuffalo2nite John, I respect that but as someone who grew up in the church forcefully and then went and did my OWN research vs what the church was telling me to think I can sit here 1000% positive what you are saying is BS. You are not “chosen” by god either because he isn’t there
You’re right about religion, there is no science. That’s not what the Bible is about. True science eventually proves the Bible correct but it’s vanity and arrogance that causes people to believe they can and must prove everything. We can’t and never will be able to do that. The Bible is about faith, things unseen. How can you have faith if you need to prove everything??? You can’t.
I used to think there was science behind evolution, cosmology, and theoretical physics, etc.. but what I found out was scientists are human and they make mistakes or sometimes they flat out lie. If you really are a seeker of truth, you can find where evolution is false. Lots of the science was falsified. But we were taught in school that evolution was gospel. It was an immutable fact. The science was settled. Then I found out the truth and I felt betrayed. So much information we were taught in school as fact was in reality a fiction. As more facts come to light, it buries evolution. But too many academics have based entire careers on the old false beliefs. They can’t adapt so they cherry pick data to fit their beliefs.
I am a computer scientist. I tried to use a genetic algorithm to solve some problems in a project I was working on. This was back when I still believed in evolution. I learned the hard way that genetic algorithms do NOT create new high level traits. They only rearrange traits or slightly alter them for a specific purpose. In short you can only randomly improve something like an eye for a specific purpose but you can’t randomly get an eye out of nothing through mutation. It’s statistically impossible.
So if you truly follow science and do your own research, you will find that most of what we were taught was nothing more than a guess. Some of those guesses are turning out to be wrong.
So be careful with the altar at which you pray. For me it’s hearing the word of God and just knowing. It says in the Bible that his children know his voice. I don’t need science to tell me his truth. If you aren’t chosen, you will never get what I’m saying. You won’t find your faith. But man is always looking for something to pray to, be it golden calf, the altar of science, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
I choose faith probably because God put that in my heart. When he puts that in your heart, you are driven to seek him out. The Bible then opens up and divulges amazing things. For those without faith, it’s just a book with maybe some worthwhile advice.
@JRFrogman@1791lolo@TheWildGunblade@AlBuffalo2nite There is no science behind religion, there is no evidence of anything that happened in all those books besides what people were told to believe. There is science behind evolution and absolutely zero behind Adam and Eve. I was forced and raised in the faith, I know the BS
He is all powerful but this is a fallen world. It was perfect originally and things like that would never happen. If you are a Christian then you know the story about the first sin. We brought this on ourselves. This is our world, our time, and our sin. God left this world in our hands. Don’t judge god by our misdeeds. We are separated from him by our sins and here we will stay, mired in sin, until judgment day.
We have been thrown a lifeline in the name of Jesus Christ. We cannot be allowed into heaven because of our sins. It is through faith in Christ that we receive forgiveness. Righteousness is credited to us as if we lived a sinless life. That is our only way out of this mess. Until then I’m afraid we are all stuck with this kind of evil. Eventually all of this evil will be thrown into the wastebasket called hell.
@TheWildGunblade@JohnSmith2hdc@JRFrogman@AlBuffalo2nite I believe in Jesus and I believe in heaven, but I dont believe in God as being some type of all powerful being, I don’t buy the whole sometimes he performs miracles and sometimes he doesn’t BS. If He were all powerful, he would not allow this evil to happen, especially to kids.
@femalebodybuil6 I don’t think so. Any one claiming a hair style or some other fashion statement is just trying to add some kind of status their clan or social group and thus to themselves. I think faux outrage over stuff like this is getting tiresome.
