Thrilled to announce my 1st book! "The Nuclear Club" examines world affairs from Hiroshima to 1968 Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) to demonstrate how the club consolidated authority via a counter-revolution that legitimated wars of choice a/g rogue states. sup.org/books/title/?i…

In any conversation about defense procurement, and in particular of exquisite capabilities and shipbuilding, the limiting factor constantly cited is not $$$ but rather the availability of sufficiently skilled and sober labor. So, maybe some added cash for technical education.

Some things I would spend $200B on. -Opening a second B-21 production line. $4.5B -Plan a second F-47 line $4.5B -Restart C-17 production. $8B -Buy 48 US-2s from Japan. $7.5B -Max the lines of F-35, F-15EX and F-16V, all to the USAF. $28B -Grow the Army to 680,000. $42B

@iwantlambo who is they. no it's not being artificially held down. as people lose money in margin accounts they need to sell things to post riskless collateral (which can only be cash or treasuries) so they end up selling their precious metals exposure. this happens every crisis

"Nearly five years." Investigative journalism takes years and years. The investment is immense, and always worth it, and, in the era of "hot takes" and ephemeral "content," rigorously reported journalistic work is needed more than ever. We must keep supporting investigative journalism. From @mannyNYT, lead reporter of the blockbuster piece on Cesar Chavez ⤵️

@megbasham @MochaLite The NYT spent five years conducting the investigation to make sure they got the facts as right as they could. Why can’t that just an occasion, for a change, to praise journalists for a job well done instead of throwing more clickbait anti-media suspicion out there?

@EmmaMAshford @BretDevereaux Implicit by omission in the article and reflecting a general oversight in the discourse, analysis of the war would benefit from distinguishing between short-term, medium-term, and long-term projected outcomes and risks.

@BretDevereaux Right. I think what's notable to me is that the expert community, which tends to be pretty hawkish overall, is much more tilted towards thinking this is a huge mistake than you'd ever normally see. I liked that this article made me think about why it's wrong.

If AI is actually making your research and writing more efficient and productive, I would expect you to be reading more source material, not less. If AI is helping you read less, you are becoming dumber.

Humbled by the opportunity to publish this with Georgetown Journal of International Affairs. Started work on this late last year but this rollout coincided timely with the Strait of Hormuz crisis. Your honest critique most welcome. gjia.georgetown.edu/2026/03/16/sec…

The Jervis Forum Roundtable Review 17-30 Grant Golub’s Warriors in Washington: Henry Stimson, the US Army, and the Politics of American Power in World War II “showcasing how America’s interventionist foreign policy after World War II was not inevitable, but the product of committed internationalists like Stimson who remade the rules for warriors in Washington.” –Alex J. Two books that contain copious data on the Central Committee and Politburo from 1917–1991. The Soviet Elite is particularly impressive: detailed life histories of all 2,000 CC members across the Soviet era + ~100 interviews with former CC members.
