Right? At the very least, Tolkien could have included someone who willingly dies for his friends and comes back to life, or maybe a king who takes his place on the throne to bring peace and prosperity, or someone born in obscurity who bears the weight of the world.

China’s green superpower myth Many in the West gaze in awe at China’s apparent dominance in green energy. “China is becoming a green superpower,” read a BBC headline last month. “China’s Green Triumph,” trumpeted The New York Times. But these claims fall apart under scrutiny: While China dominates production of solar panels, wind turbines, batteries, and electric vehicles, this expansion rests on surging coal use and massive industrial overcapacity. There is a species of ant that approaches the edge of another colony, kills a single worker, and then takes on the dead ant’s scent. For ants, scent is everything. Wearing that scent, the intruder walks in with no resistance. The workers pass by without concern. The intruder moves inward, toward the queen, then It sprays the queen with a different scent that makes the workers turn on her. Then they surround her and kill her. The intruder does not need to fight anyone. The colony does the work itself. Once the queen is gone, the intruder reproduces. The true invader is no longer an intruder. It is the future. This is how ideological takeover works. A destructive foreign ideology takes the scent of familiar ideas and walks in as if it belongs. It speaks the native vocabulary, justice, equality, compassion, rights, progress. It uses these words and quietly changes what they point to. Then it moves inward. It alters how foundations are perceived. Responsibility is made to smell like cruelty, law like oppression, borders like hatred, tradition like danger, history like guilt. At that point, the civilization turns on itself. Its courts, universities, churches, media, and bureaucracies begin treating their own foundations as threats. They believe they are defending the system. They are enforcing what now smells legitimate. They do not see the intruder because it sounds exactly like them. And when the founding principles are finally removed, discredited, dismantled, erased, the foreign ideology does not need to conquer anything. It inherits what is left. The queen is gone. The colony is no longer itself. The most effective conquest is the one that convinces a society that its own foundations are the enemy, and that killing them is an act of virtue.

How did we get to be $39 trillion in debt? The zombie filibuster—coupled with a chronic unwillingness among senators to break through it by putting in the hard work—has contributed to it substantially. For decades, this dynamic has been giving Senate Democrats way too much power when it comes to spending bills—even when they’re in the minority. Spending bills in the Senate routinely get to 60 votes—regardless of who’s in the majority and who controls the House and the White House—with votes coming from (1) basically every Senate Democrat and (2) a much smaller group of Republicans (predominantly members of the Appropriations Committee), in many cases just a few more than whatever it takes to achieve cloture. As a result, disagreements on spending bills tend to be resolved by simply spending more—to give those voting for it what they need to vote for it. This is one of many reasons why I’ve been pushing so hard on the talking filibuster which, if fully utilized and given the time it needs to work, could help us pass the SAVE America Act. But the benefits wouldn’t end there, as they could help us avoid not only the kind of shutdown hell we’re now experiencing, but also rein in our debt and deficit—at least while Republicans are in charge. Share if you’d like to see the Senate use the talking filibuster—to fully fund DHS, to pass the SAVE America Act, to reduce spending, and otherwise!

Think about this… The American people would not know what John Thune and the Senate GOP were trying to pull without X. John Thune and the Senate GOP would never have felt the heat they are now without X. We know. They know we know. Keep up the pressure. It’s a new world.

The Berlin Wall created the most brutal controlled experiment in human history: identical people, split by ideology, watched for 41 years to see which system would prevail. West Germans embraced market economics while East Germans suffered under socialist central planning. The results? Devastating. By 1989, East German GDP per capita sat at roughly 30% of West Germany's level. East Germans consumed 40% fewer calories, owned cars at one-tenth the rate, and waited 12 years for a telephone connection. Meanwhile, their western cousins enjoyed rising living standards, technological innovation, and personal freedom that made West Germany an economic powerhouse. But the socialists had excuses ready. "East Germany started from a worse position after the war," they claimed. Bullshit. Both regions faced identical devastation in 1945. The Soviets actually stripped more industrial equipment from their zone (roughly $10 billion worth), yet this affected rural areas less than urban centers. And East Germany possessed abundant natural resources like lignite coal and uranium that should have provided economic advantages. The real difference? Property rights, price signals, and entrepreneurship versus state ownership, price controls, and bureaucratic allocation. West Germans could start businesses, invest capital, and respond to consumer demands. East Germans filled quotas set by party officials who had never run so much as a lemonade stand. You can't coordinate an economy through committee meetings and five-year plans when prices tell you nothing about real supply and demand. East Germans voted with their feet—2.7 million fled west before the Communists built their wall in 1961. After reunification, investigators found Stasi files on one-third of the population. When you need secret police watching every third citizen, your economic system has already failed.

During the Civil War in Spain, communists would dig up the bodies of nuns and put them on public display to mock and defile them. Spanish leftism is a particularly demonic force of evil - the same ideology that killed Noelia.

Microsoft is having its worst quarter since 2008. We were told that companies implementing DEI initiatives, hiring a diverse workforce, and placing more women in executive positions would make companies resilient and profitable beyond our wildest dreams. What happened?

You know how PepsiCo lowered the price of Lays products after RFK Jr. said you can't use SNAP to buy them anymore? That's because, when they could get the government (the taxpayer) to pay for their products, they had no reason to care if they were affordable to anyone who wasn't on SNAP. Now that that's no longer the case, they have to price competitively again. The government doesn't give people TVs for "free", and that's why they're cheap.
Daniel Hershberger@dchersh

TVs are better and cheaper than 10 years ago. Groceries are worse and more expensive than 10 years ago. Same economy. Same decade. What explains the difference?
